Disgusting Newsweek Article Painting Bush as Sympathetic
Sorry if this is a dupe, but I about puked on my keyboard reading this. They make him sound like he's the fucking pope or something.

<snip>
President Bush was wearing "a huge smile," but his eyes were red and he looked drained by the time he got to the last widow, Crystal Owen, a third-grade schoolteacher who had lost her husband in Iraq. "Tell me about Mike," he said immediately. "I don't want my husband's death to be in vain," she told him. The president apologized repeatedly for her husband's death. When Owen began to cry, Bush grabbed her hands. "Don't worry, don't worry," he said, though his choking voice suggested that he had worries of his own. The president and the widow hugged. "It felt like he could have been my dad," Owen recalled to NEWSWEEK. "It was like we were old friends. It almost makes me sad. In a way, I wish he weren't the president, just so I could talk to him all the time."

3. Must Be A Pubbie Gold Star Mother
'Cause Bushie said on Saturday he wouldn't see Cindy, because he "had to go on with his life."

Sickening. What a jerk.

7. Civil war in the media.
Newsweek is owned by the Wash Post Co. The Post has not come over fully to going after Bush. They had some stuff on Plame then backed off. Now this. I'm really serious, whose running things at the Post? Get it straight PentaPost, are you with him or us?

10. Is this fallout from that Newsweek flap
a few weeks ago? So Newsweek needs to do some butt-kissing?

11. This is no surprise
People who spend a little too much time in Blue State America assume that all mothers of killed troops in Iraq are like Cindy Sheehan. There are just as many mothers who are the exact opposite of Cindy and seem willing to support the killing of more American troops in Iraq to make their sons' deaths "worthwhile".

16. Sincere sorrow doesn't mean a whole lot when you won't back it up
with responsible policies.

You can hurt people and feel sorry for it yet continue hurting people. These emotions are qualified by the irresponsible actions he's taken.

17. "President Bush is determined not to give in...
...to the demands of domestic terrorists", that's how I figure the MSM will end up spinning his cowardly retreat.
