1. And I've STILL got cleanup to do!
That was a horrible, horrible night and two weeks (without power and phones-in August heat). I pray Orlando won't be slammed again (Yes, this county is BLUE)!

2. What side of town were you?
I was near Universal Studios. Think my neighborhood had a small tornado. Seems like the airport/Michigan area got it the worst, at least from what I saw. I was going to visit a friend who lives off of Lk. Margaret, and missed the street. It was totally unrecognizable over there, with all the downed trees.

3. Historic downtown Orlando
not far from Michigan. Our beautiful old trees were thrown around like bowling pins. I think a tornado hit us too-it wasn't as bad three or four streets away. I couldn't even drive out of my street for days because of all the downed oaks. :-(

4. Pics:

For once, I was happy to see a bulldozer (it cleared the street).

BTW- my friend did the animation of the electric bolts coming out of the Emperor's fingers in your sig line! (She was an FX animator at ILM). :hi:

7. Near lake Davis
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:57 PM by Lorien
so that's pretty close. Sorry to hear about the trees at your condo complex, too. I think that losing the trees was the hardest part for many of us down here; they are so magnificent, and take ages to get this large. Roofs can be hammered back into shape, but century oaks cannot. :-(

On edit: my friend's name is Renee Holt (you can read her bio on IMDB-though it's very incomplete). I was just on the phone with her 20 minutes before I read your post. Weird!

8. I love the big, shadowy trees with the moss!
It is sad so many fell. Hopefully, we will never have another hurricane season like this last one.

I will check out your friend's bio, that is pretty neat!

5. I was at my folk's house during the storm
Strange stuff, they live probably less than a mile from me, but the damage was much less near her house than my condo complex. There was a big swath of trees down, and my building and the one next to it lost 8 big patches of roofing...probably 4ftX7ft pieces of wood with the roofing shingles stapled onto them. Amzzingly, none of them hit a car. I was picking up nails from the parking lot for a month. I had a roofing tac in my tire just 3 months ago I needed to get repaired. The stuff must have been blown off the lawn by the landscaping crew.

Sorry you couldn't drive out.

:(

9. I have a picture
on my BB in my cubicle - our dog's first time at the beach. It was at Shell Point, south of St. Marks. And that storm was so recent.
