What the HELL does this man mean by "drop in the bucket" ?
<snip>
Cindy has been doing interviews this morning, NBC, public radio, at 10 a.m. she called a press pool and at that time, the man that wrote a book, an Iraqi veteran also protesting, said, "Your losses is a drop in the bucket."

2. Suppose it was: "loss is"
And that is a very big bucket which is filled with many, many losses - loss of life, limb, future, liberty - and W fiddles away.

11. someone should sing him
this beautiful song-

"....So Happy Anniversary, baby
May fortune and fate be your friends
Wherever you go, I want you to know
I don't think my love ever ends
I carry it down the highway
It's a part of my body and soul
And one day it'll be the part of me
That will pull me up out of this hole

A year, that ain't nothing
When you lose someone you love
A year is a drop in a bucket
When you lose someone you love"

6. What kind of person would refer to the loss of one's son ...
as a "drop in the bucket?"

His statement certainly was more reflective of who the speaker is, vs. who Cindy is.

8. I read it as a supporter of Cindy
and that he meant her loss was one of many in a bucket of spilled blood of this war. That's how I read it. However,if the Iconoclast reporter would have at least noted his name it would sure help make the piece clearer for the reader.

9. The Vet /book author's position is unclear
It's unclear what book is being reference, and it's unclear whether he is protesting with Cindy or in opposition to Cindy. It's also unclear who his statement was directed toward.

So, until those questions are answered, I haven't got a clue what this guy meant.
