Republicans are selfish and self serving!
Not much to say beyond that. I might add self righteous without any reason to be. Really, I don't get them. Well I do understand the rich repubs, they have a reason to vote repub, selfish and greedy. But the rank and file repubs who vote against themselves for religious reason never get the disconnect between what their leaders say to get elected and what they do once elected! Well up to the point of GW that is! They may well get their wish now, but they won't have jobs and how will they "put food on their families"? Guess they don't fully back the phrase, "There but for the grace of God, go I". As I said, I don't get repubs.

4. Greed is good...
rather greedy is a good adjective to describe Republicans.

Name ONE non-greedy conservative. I can't - can you?

9. A sliding scale of ignorance and selfish greed....
Some are just way over on the ignorance side, some are just way over on the selfish greed side, but most are somewhere along the spectrum.

they're such despicable, unspeakable fucking hypocrites. A minor example: they vilify Jane Fonda, call her a traitor because of her trip to Hanoi during the 'Nam war. But Rove committing an act of treason by outing a C.I.A. agent and causing God knows what damage to our national security, is o.k. because he's a fucking Republican. Fonda should turn Repuke, and they'll write off her Hanoi trip to "youthful indiscretion". Hell, if she becomes a donor, they'll probably award her a Freedom Medal.

15. I have to say that I agree with you
I have a younger sister who is a huge Bush-Colter-Limbaugh fan (it amazes me that we are of the same blood). She is single and will probably retire early with a huge mound of money, a big new house she paid cash for and a nice car, but I always wonder whether she thinks about our seven nephews and nieces and the future in which they will have to possibly endure more than actually live. And if she does think of them, how does she figure they’re better off with the daily lessons in arrogance, intolerance, narrow-mindedness and hatred that Bush et al provide? I love her, but for the life of me, I don’t understand her and I am disgusted and ashamed that she encourages those selfish bastards.

17. I have a sister who married a repug
We were all raised Dems, our parents struggled with four kids. She met this guy, who is rich, and she is a gun enthusiast, hence her change in politics. But I am betting rich trumps all with her and her hubby. My dad and her never talk politics and my dad and I always do!

18. Wide swipes like this are uncalled for
You can't paint such a broad brush over an entire group. There are plenty of repubs who don't like bush or his policies. Some voted for them the first time around, but didn't the second time. Some dems I know voted for the man. Go figure.

Just because the ones you know, have met, or seen on TV doesn't mean they are ALL that way.

Like they don't paint us with the same broad brush first? The ones I know and have met and have seen on TV are selfish and self serving, so I gather they are all the same way! Like I said, I don't get republicans! Defend them all you want, they won't grant you the same courtesy.

I didn't ask anyone to agree with me! It was my opinion and last I knew I am entitled to it! As you are yours. I think republicans are greedy and selfish and self serving and their actions prove me right. Broad brush indeed!

23. My mother is a rw republican
And she is NOT greedy nor selfish. We disagree on a lot of things, but even with as much as a nutjob she can be at times, she is caring and giving. She gives of her free time and money to help out local charities.

I know plenty of republicans who are NOT as you say.

Just as with any group, you will find good and bad...even among dems you'll find them. Zell Miller ring a bell? Call him a DINO if you want, he still carries the democratic label and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be judged by his stupidity.

We shouldn't judge an entire group of people based on the ones in charge. If you want to do that...go right ahead, but don't expect massive approval by all of DU.

This type of generalization only demeans us and MAKES US LIKE THEM! The last thing I want to be...is like them.

27. So we shouldn't act like them
This is the repuke leadership I'm talking about. I hate their tactics. I hate how they get into bed with the corporate elite and manipulate christianity for their own benefit. I hate how they treat people who are not in lockstep with them or who just doesn't want to be like them.

There are a lot of things they do that I hate and I feel to take on their tactics and machinations lowers me to their level...and I refuse to do so.

Thankfully, there are plenty of republicans who are not like that.

28. Really?
"Thankfully, there are plenty of republicans who are not like that." I don't believe that for one minute, but you feel free to think that. Delusion isn't something I participate in. I am fully aware that bush stole the election, however, plenty of Americans voted for him and I am thinking, not many Democrats, progressives and Liberals were among them. Like I said, I don't get republicans, but you can defend your mom and those repubs who you apparently do get!

29. Oh and BTW, if my DAD were a repub, however generous he was,
I would never defend his stance on his political agenda. But that is just me, as he would never defend me if I were in complete disagreement with his political stance. I can't condone republicans, not matter how 'caring' they may seem.

31. So what part of 'people are different' don't you get?
Just because someone is a republican doesn't make them a bad person any more than because someone is a dem it makes them bad.

This is a black and white view you have with no nuance to it whatsoever.

Also, keep in mind...those republicans you seem to hate so much...we do need their vote in the coming elections. Perhaps, if you would not immediately alienate those who might be inclined to vote our way we may actually win.

Also, check the approval ratings. They are dropping and some of those are republicans who don't like the job he's doing. Possible future voters of democrats may be in the mix.

It works both ways. You seems to be defending a party who lies cheats and steals and who would kill you both politically and physically. Why is that? I don't get you.

Edited to add: You took this personally, and why was that? One has to wonder?

33. You're making blanket statements over an entire group of people
Admitting that it is wrong is hard to do.

And where am I defending the republican party?

I think you are misinterpreting what I'm saying here. I hate the things the republican leadership does. That's what I've said. Plenty of republicans have voted both ways. As with any group of people, you will find good and bad. This is the second time I've stated this and I don't understand why you refuse to acknowledge there may actually be a few decent republicans in this country.

You said "Republicans are selfish and self serving!" If that isn't a blanket statement over an entire group of people I don't know what is. It's like saying 'people who watch reality shows are stupid'. It's a blanket statement over an entire group that is false.

I hope I stated it plain enough for you this time.

24. I think what she's trying to say
is that we have to learn to fight fire with fire. Take the tactics of the majority, not ALL, of the Republicans, and throw those tactics right back in their face. It's the only thing that they understand.
