Flame Bait: The satirical commentary in Grand Theft Auto is liberal.
It is. Listen to the radio when you get into a car. There are constant jabs at Republicans, right-wingers, militias, censorship, Christian fundamentalism, hypocritical politicians and war mongers. It is absolutely slanted to the left, no question.

Just food for thought.

1. Yup.
It was even more obvious in Vice City.

What do you expect from young, hip Vancouveranians?

2. hehe. Maybe Joe Freep in rendering didn't like it
so he planted the little "easter egg". Probably not. But an interestingly surreal reality, where all the talk radio is leftist.

4. hell, listen to the jingle for Cluckin' Bell...
it's beyond liberal -- it's all anti-corporate/animal rights propaganda. "Cock-a-doodle-doo, we're a huge corporation," etc.

Actually, I think the whole game is just an elaborate condemnation of police brutality/corruption.

Not that I play that evil game or anything. O8)

Cock-a-doodle doo, it's time for chicken,
Cock-a-doodle doo, it's time for a feast,
Eat a 90-piece bucket, you can tell
He's been to Cluckin' Bell.
The chicken is a bird with a tiny brain,
So we assume he doesn't feel any pain.
We shrink their heads and we breed 'em fast,
Six wings, forty breasts and then they're gassed.
Cock-a-doodle doo, we're psychotic crazies,
Cock-a-doodle doo, factory farming's insane
We denied it all before our stock price fell,
Come down to Cluckin' Bell.

Classic stuff.

TASTE THE COCK!

8. I was looking for those lyrics.
I don't suppose you could find the lyrics to "Gloryhole Amusement Park?"

5. Oh, I forgot...they make fun of soccer moms and Southerners, too.
I seem to remember something about our elections being fraudulent as well.

7. Liberal on the whole, but it takes jabs at the left, too.
There's plenty of "damn hippies" stuff on the radio as well. The theme of the original GTA3 game in general was particularly aimed to simultaneously mindfuck conservatives and to poke fun at libertarianism, but only if you are cultured enough to "get it." It pushes the envelope past libertarianism into the libertine and is a pretty powerful picture of what would happen to society made up entirely of assholes. In a way it shows why values are necessary, while allowing you to work the steam off your worst negative impulses.

Frankly, I didn't like the radio in the latest one on the whole. The humor is not as sharp and seems a bit more forced, like they rushed it. The pedestrian dialogue was funnier by far.

I did think the "Master Sounds" station was a great concept and very well executed. The rest, not so great.

I've played all three GTA3 series, and if you want good radio, the earlier ones are better. The first one had a a few studio/unknown bands doing style parodies of music from the time period, rather than actual songs that you've already heard on the radio. This fit the feel of the game better since the music was a farce like the rest of the game.

Money ruins everything, though, so it couldn't be avoided.

10. You're right, the talk radio in Vice City is the best.
But the music is a lot better in San Andreas.
