Is there anyone who believed a word the Pfizer CEO had to say on

Wash. Journal this morning?

when he said his 4 mil bonus was ok a caller told him it was obscene which was what I was saying out loud to the TV

whenever he was asked pernitent questions like pharma lobbyists he would change the topic and blather on about how Pfizer was the largest pharma and peachy wonderful to boot.

he kept saying that no one need go without medicine as they just have to call up Pfizer, tell them your yearly income and medicine will be pro rated for you and some people even get it for free.

he said the price of medicine was set by the market and a caller said that since Pfizer was the largest it set it's own prices. of course he ignored this and talked about the wonderfulness of Pfizer

I'm wondering why he was on - is something up in pharma land?

2. I know someone who works
for pfizer and wants out in the worst way..and it will happen soon.

It sounds as bad on the inside as we can imagine.

The money is good but not worth the price of his soul.

5. So sorry to hear that, KzooDem...
My thoughts are with you also, now that I know. And this guy smirks all the way to the bank with his 4 million salary...just think, if he took a reasonable salary, say 500k, think about how many employees could keep their jobs with 3.5 mil

It's amazing that in the same day he's slashing and burning positions and people, he can go on live TV and defend a $4 million BONUS, and do it with a STRAIGHT FACE.

10. I am convinced all CEOs are sociopaths and monkeys can do their jobs
Have you noticed how when they screw up bigtime, they still think they deserve their money. If a common person did the same they'd be fired in a second.

3. Can all the Africans who need AIDS medication...
call up and get it for free???

Yes, I know that Pfizer probably doesn't manufacture AIDS medication, I don't know who does, but I'm sure my point is made.

6. they pay these guys that much because they have access to "the Juice"
at that level its all about "connections" it has nothing to do with an ability to actually run a company. that stuff is done by lesser mortals.

these CEOs pick up a phone and call someone who makes things happen to the company's benefit (or most likely the CEO's). only those so hooked up to "the Juice" get their calls answered.

this is the axis of power upon which the class war revolves.

9. yes, in amongst his blather he mentioned - talking to smirk -

like "I told bush, etc., etc."

pharma pays tons of money to the bushgang so that this CEO can get a bonus of 4 mil and their toxic waste doesn't have to be cleaned up or stopped, and regulations are reduced on quality control, among other things.

12. A 4 mil bonus is obscene especially from a pharma exec.
My dad worked for Pfizer for 25 years, in a limestone plant in SoCal. He was union, they sold the plant about five years ago and the employees voted out the union. My brother, who has worked at that plant for 30 years, is treated good. Same benefits and he gets all the overtime he wants plus, 7 weeks paid vacation per year. They are expanding the plant, so no fear of my brother being laid off. Anyway, my dad has a decent retirement plan including health benefits from Pfizer, plus while he was an employee, part of his benefits included pfizer stock which split three times before he retired. He is a life long Democrat, union member and union arbitrator, and he is not a fan of pfizer's policies, pretty sure he would find that CEO's bonus obscene.
