Poll question: What will happen first?
Scenario A:
A large country will "diversity" (e.g. ditch the dollar) and we sink into a recession or worse. China comes to mind, as does Saudi Arabia.

Scenario B:
The US goes to war against another, likely oil-rich, country.

Scenario C:
The US is hit with a big terrorist attack; which in turn prompts A, B, or both... "A" because we're no longer seen as a nation with a competent leader or currency worth hinging on, and/or "B" because we will unsurprisingly find that country to be the country sponsoring the terrorists (unlike Saudi Arabia, perish the thought) and they need to be drained of their oil taught a lesson.

Scenario D:
We pull out of Iraq and all is well in the world once again.

Scenario E:
Same as E except the "insuregent" waltz on in and destroy the Iraqi oil wells... (but would also lead to scenario A)

1. You left out "the military gets fed up with Bush and stages a
coup" and "states begin to secede from the Union."

4. None of the above. More like a slow, bloody, decline.
Actually, all of the above. But slowly, as we try to hold on to the empire.
