FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dontcha love it?
We live in a nation that once had the mantra of "There's nothing to fear but fear itself."

Things have changed.

24-7 the white house tells us why we should be afraid. The last empire to try to pass that kind of crap off was in Germany in the 30's & 40's.

Is the problem that we really are that stupid now or that people just don't give a shit as long as the cable gets through?

1. Neither. Many people *do* give a shit, but
they are actively ignored by the people running the cable shows.

Go shopping, 'cause the weak ass economy needs you to spend some money. But you might get blown up at the mall.
I'm looking forward to the day when we can look back on this as a dark, horrific period in American and world history, and pictures of Bush and Cheney are on dart boards in bars across the country, even in those red states.

4. For a good many folks I think that the cable is a pretty good reason
not to pay attention to what's going on.

Remember: bread and circuses, bread and circuses....

And if we think back on it, the results in Germany during the aforementioned time period were pretty much the same, no?

I mean, people just want to get on with their lives. So much easier to let "somebody else" take care of things. And that's just what Bushistas have promised. Take care of the economy, terrorist threats, the war -- and as long as you can take care of your Big Mac Attack and watch American Idol, what more could you ask for?
