Debunking RW talking points is a complete waste of time!
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 11:19 AM by tk2kewl
Don't even bother. Thats what they want, that's why they're out there -- to make the left wast time addressing them. Don't!

Just call BULLSHIT and move right back to the facts.

State how Bush is destroying our national security.

Then state what Democrats would do.

1. Rove is roasting on an open fire
Changing the subject to "national security" will only provoke yawns. Better to keep silent, or just calmly point out the facts about the Rove case.

2. That's fine. My point is ...
that to waste time debunking absurdity is a waste of time.

Pound the facts -- ignore the bullshit.

10. It's not a waste of time to point out the absurdity, I don't think.
If anyone is in a position to call wingers on the bullshit, they should call them on the bullshit. Not get into arguments in which their lies are on par with the truth, though. That really would be a waste of time.

3. Distraction, Distortion, in order to insite Confusion.
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 10:52 AM by jsamuel
You are right. We should be educated enough to know where they RW are wrong and be able to refute them, but it is much more effective to not let them change the subject into their arena. Hit them with fact after fact and don't let them change the subject at all. YOU DIRECT THE CONVERSATION. Otherwise they will get you off of the subject by making a false statement off subject and will cause confusion by anyone else listening in. Not to mention it will get you more frustrated than it is worth.

4. How right you are!
And yet the navel gazers always wanna have an honest debate.

NO ONE IS LISTENING.

They hear what they wanna hear. Debating 'talking points' serves only to make the talking points appear valid. Every one of our talking heads needs to go on teevee and not even engage in debate. Just say what they have to say NO MATTER the question the (most likely a shill) 'host' asks.

5. Why did the White House admit
that the 16 words in the SOTU address about Iraq wanting uranium from Africa should not have been there?

I think it's OK to discuss this aspect of the story because it leads into the story that the Bush administration misled the American people about the reasons for going to war in Iraq.

That's what the coverup was all about.

7. Spin Their Heads...
Ask 'em...ok...if Plame was only a "desk jockey", how did she have all that power to overule higher-ups to get her husband sent to Niger?

Or...rattle their cage with ...If Rove was Cooper's source...why is Judy Miller still sitting in jail? Whose she's protecting?

Nah, we don't debunk. When given the chance just ask 'em questions. When they think they have it answered, just take their conveluted logic and ask them again. Soon their spinning will turn them into pancakes. LOL.

8. Don't talk about Plame, Don't talk about Wilson
There is no reason to talk about them. "Who cares"

Talk about Rove, Bush, Cheney, Libby

Talk about Miller, Cooper, Novak

Don't let them drive the conversation

9. Keep 'Em Spinning
No need to say Joe Wilson at all. They'll spin themselves into some dark alley.

The focus is Rove and if you can't bring the focus back to that, you need more DU training...LOL. Also don't hesitate to call these people liars.

Now if you dare...go one step further and call them immoral. That should get the blood boiling into hyper-space spin. LOL. They hate to be forced to think that if their worst fears are true (which they are) they are supporting a lying traitor. The fall will be so sweet.

Yep...i'm liking it...

11. What would Howard Dean do?
Make the Republicans try (and fail) to debunk his talking points.

Now, what would Brian Boitano do?

12. That's what I would do
I would just turn it around to the real debate. Ask them to prove what Wilson is lying about. All they say is Joseph Wilson is lying.
