Anybody else concerned that they will do ANYTHING to save Rove?
The no-holds-barred press conference by Republican Senators, what I saw of it, was quite frightening. Bond's slashing of Wilson seemed beyond the limit. The RNC talking points, I'm afraid, are today beginning to be picked up by the press; they may succeed in convincing the public that this is nothing but politics.

These people quite obviously have regard for neither truth nor law. This press conf. made me think they would consider doing anything to save Rove -- anything. After all, it's not just Bush that Rove has propelled into power. He has a vision of extremist right-wing one-party rule over this country far into the future, possibly forever, and he devotes every day of his life to this vision.

They have unprecedented power. I'm not sure what can or will stop them -- or Rove.

10. The last time I saw a sane Republican was in the pre-Gingrich era.
Today, a sane Republican would be one who wouldn't strangle a kitten while anyone was watching.

17. Good point.
And it's not simply a "divide & conquer" type of thing. It's that the majority of decent people do not think it is okay to expose a CIA operative for political "gain." And they do not like the thought of exposing a person involved with a network that seeks to protect Americans from our true enemies.

12. Yes
and that's a big yes, I'm convinced that these people are insane and they'll kill the patient to save him. They've got their orc holes ready to scurry into, they've had years to steal and prepare.
I'm afraid they're getting ready to close the mine shafts. (dr. Strangelove)

Concerned..... I am hoping for it.

That way not only does the treasonous and traitors go down, but all who support them.

I can only pray that Dem leaders will call for them all to go.

16. I think your fears are absolutely rational. This bunch in power now...
has so far managed to achieve all its ends by deception and manipulation. But if it genuinely feels threatened -- senses that something like the Rove case is about to truly bring down the house -- I believe it would pull the plug on the Constitution in a New York minute, then tell the world, "we had to destroy the country to save it."

18. "These people quite obviously have regard for neither truth nor law."
well, duh.

They have no use for reality and actively hate the truth. The law, were it applied, would see them all, down to congressional staffers and medium-level repuke-appointee bureaucrats, executed or imprisoned. We'd be employing the extreme depths of the presidential line of succession overnight.

19. The White House is already backing away
I think they'll cut Rove loose if he gets indicted. This administration values loyalty, but not that much. They'll push him away to try to get the scandal away from them, but I think we might see some other top WH officials implicated as well.

I also believe that nothing will happen to Rove? Who is going to
hold these bastards accountable when they own the government,
the press and a majority of the people's minds.

I am so &*%#ing depressed.

I worry that if Fitz doesn't play ball they will smear him or rub him out.
