“Bush remarked with shudderingly bad taste that all headstones look alike”
This article is the very reason why DU exists and why we must never give up until all these people are exercised into their version of hell:

<<<snip>>>
“07/11/05 "ICH" - - On Memorial Day, George W. Bush, the world's most bloodthirsty and deceitful man strutted to the podium at our National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, to once again regurgitate his woefully shallow and inappropriate stump speech -- "Across the globe (sly smile), our military is standing directly between our people and the worst dangers in the world (pause, smirk)...the war on terror has brought great costs (no-nonsense head bob)...two terror regimes are gone forever (narrowed eyes darting nervously back and forth across the crowd), freedom is on the march (leaning forward earnestly), and America is more secure."

Unfazed by plummeting poll numbers at home or spiraling fatality numbers abroad, Bush remarked with shudderingly bad taste that all headstones look alike -- a Texan's crude way of saying, "You seen one skull orchard, you seen 'em all," and announced with devilish arrogance that his mission remains unchanged -- he has the terrorists on the run and he isn't going to stop until he has spread God's gifts of freedom and democracy and liberty and neat stuff like that throughout the world. His will will never be broken. His mission is God's mission; together, he and God will rid the world of evil. On behalf of God, Bush said he 'preciates folks dyin' for the cause. Heck, he even honors 'em.” Cont…

“Well, listen up, because it gets better. Christian Reconstructionists soar into a divine frenzy at the mere thought of capital punishment. Those of us who do not see things their way will very quickly turn into collateral damage. Clarkson says Reconstructionists "call for the death penalty for a wide range of crimes in addition to such contemporary capital crimes as rape, kidnapping, and murder. Death is also the punishment for apostasy (abandonment of the faith), heresy, blasphemy, witchcraft, astrology, adultery, "sodomy or homosexuality," incest, striking a parent, incorrigible juvenile delinquency, and, in the case of women, "unchastity before marriage."cont…

“Clarkson said the Biblically approved methods of execution include burning at the stake, stoning, hanging, and "the sword." So, if you slap your mama or do the "wild thaing" before the wedding, a "person of faith" will be happy to behead you... But North says not to worry. He prefers stoning because, among other things, stones are cheap, plentiful, and convenient. Punishments for non-capital crimes generally involve whipping, restitution in the form of indentured servitude, or slavery. Prisons would likely be only temporary holding tanks, prior to imposition of the actual sentence.

1. I'd believe he'd say something like that...
...but OTOH, where's the quote?

This ain't it: "Unfazed by plummeting poll numbers at home or spiraling fatality numbers abroad, Bush remarked with shudderingly bad taste that all headstones look alike..."

Anyone can say he said it, but where's what he actually said?

4. Not Sure What You're Asking
The headline quote is in the second paragraph and the article itself is linked at the bottom of the post.

5. I question the source, not you.
Why, if Bush said such a thing, that there's no direct quote.

As I said in my original reply, anyone can say Bush said this, or Bush said that, but where's the quote that can be traced?

2. It's interesting to watch
the White House reaction to the recent news about Karl. The president seems to be feeling his grip on the controls loosening, and his physical presentation becomes more animated .... obnoxiously so. I think his recent speech, which used the military as a backdrop, failed miserably.

Now that raises an interesting point: when things have begun ro skid out of control in the past, someone was selected to play point. But who is left? Who in the administration has not been discredited? Bush? Cheney? Ha! Rumsfeld? Please. Rice? Wolfowitz? Rove? Now there's a double extra super secret player.

3. Laura?
I'd say Colin Powell but if recent stories stating he had the V. Plame info in a folder on Air Force One, I'm wondering if he is in on it too.
The only other people who seems to be around though in the shadows is Hughes and Card.

6. Death is the great equalizer
the only thing different is that some men die for a reason, some for a cause but some die for nothing more than Fearless Misleader's wet dream.
