For those following the Leonard Clark story...
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 12:13 AM by kevin_pdamerica
He is a soldier on the streets of Baghdad. I have posted some of his voicemails and letters here at DU that inspired a large group of DU'ers to email me to start a blog for him. His blog was a popular blog for us to know that soldiers serving also think this is a scam of a war. His stories insired many. Read outloud on Randi Rhodes show, Thom Hartman, Mike Malloy, and reposted all over the internet. Just do a google of "Leonard Clark" +Iraq. Follow the link here: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-45,GGLD:en&q=%22leonard+clark%22+%2Biraq
You can see all the cross posts all over the net.

Today I have taken most of his posts down per his latest situation. He was arrested and silenced. See http://www.leonardclark.com/blog for more updates.

Thank you all for supporting his words.

Peace,
Kevin

9. Please keep us posted.
Leonard's voice mails made a big impression on me. He's very intelligent & articulate and certainly no run-of-the-mill type.

I hope he's okay.

14. What is it that Bush* always says?
Oh, yeah, "they hate us for our freedom."

What freedom?

In this case, freedom to think and speak of a future in politics.

This is something many notable American servicemen throughout our history have thought of doing at one time or another. They cared enough to believe they might be able to make a difference.

I find this commendable. So would the right wing military/political leaders if Leonard Clark was thinking to unseat a Democrat.

Hey, this thought process was even good enough for our founding fathers when they chose George Washington.

But, this isn't what it is all about, is it? It's a flimsy loophole to silence and punish him for being a critical thinking man, and not buying into all the lies.

15. I have not been following the story.
Now I will try to play catch up.
Why was he arrested? Was it for speaking his mind?
If so, proof that we no longer live in a democratic republic. If that is the case this is the proof that we no longer have the freedoms that our ancestors fought and died for.
It churns my stomach to think about this. I will definitely pass this story on to others.

17. What are they charging him with?
Bastards. As if they have a PRAYER to keep this quiet.

We will follow Leonard's story and we will watch how he is handled.

Thank you, Kevin, for keeping us posted.

18. For campaigning for public office
Sounds really weak, but it is contrary to the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). The UCMJ has gotcha for every situation, there is one article, 134, which basically states they can get you for anything which is not specifically mentioned elsewhere in the code, but is considered "Contrary to the maintenance of good order and discipline".

22. Proves again
they don't give a shit about the armed forces , all they want is a force which'll serve their (corporate)interest .If that involves crapping on the rights of soldiers , of citizens , of americans so be it .

If he's ever convicted , Germany doesn't extradite americans who study at their universities .There's this 19 year old kid (if i recall right) who went awoll after being abused senseless for his convictions of being a democracy hugger . he's studying in Heidelberg now , paid for by the german bundesrepubliek .I saw a piece about it on swiss tv in italian so i might be wrong on some of the details , but in general it should check out .

All that aside , strength to the poor fellow who gets to take shit from someone who's not half the man he is .
