Bill Clinton is brilliant (and on C-Span now)

His basic point is that we are winning polls left and right about Greenhouse gas reduction, energy conservation, rebuilding infrastructure and a whole myriad of issues like this, but that these are not voting issues. No one votes on these issues. We need to tie every issue we have to security and economy. Security and economy win elections. I know this sounds simplistic but when is the last time you heard someone say, "we need to conserve gas so we will have it for our military"? Or like Clinton said, we could create a whole new sector of the economy to research and implement new ideas and technologies that will make our transportation system and economy more efficient - saving us billions of dollars and creating good jobs. Listen to the Big Dog! He knows how to win!

For years watching Bush screw up at these scripted PR shows and then to see someone who is intelligent, cognitive and articulate. Hell he can beat Bush just by knowing his ass from a hole in the ground...

The other day I was reading a magazine that had a short piece on a recent study that theorizes the brains of liberals and conservatives might be genetically different and that these two thought processes are becoming more and more polarized, rather than coming closer together.

The reason I mention this is that I think if we examine how liberals and conservatives think and communitcating (as George Lakoff has been studying for such a long time) we can start emerge from our election losses.

We have to find a key to unlock the mystery of people that continually vote against their interests. And Bill Clinton illustrates part of our dilemma - I can sit and listen to him speak for hours and miss having an in intelligent president. Then on the other hand, the current president somehow can speak to the "common man". He can pee down someone's back, tell them it is raining and many would believe it.

But Clinton had both - intellect and ability to talk to the "common man". Kerry's problem was that he lacked the latter.

... is begging for forgiveness. So what if he is brilliant! He screwed up the world with his dumb, selfish Lewinsky play. Clinton is responsible for Bush in my book. I respect him, I admire his intellect, but I still blame him for all of this shit we are going through. He should have resigned and begged forgiveness once he beat impeachment.

Clinton's peccadillo put Bush in the White House, and Clinton's lie, refuted by DNA evidence on the world stage, created the low honesty expectations that allow Bush to thrive.

I don't hate Clinton, so no flames. I feel betrayed and feel he owes all Democrats a more abject apology than I think we ever received.

In the DLC playbook it's all about advertising. Truth and ethics be damned. Clinton won in '92 because of Perot. In '96 because the economy was booming and the Republicans ran a corpse.

But, he and his DLC salesmen have spun those 2 lucky events into some sort of reason to turn the Democratic Party into the party of compromise and accomodation with the right.

I held my nose and voted for the "Big Puppydog" both times. The 2 votes I most regret.
