Which candidate/ running mate does the DLC want?
I think they want a Clark/Edwards ticket. I think Kerry WAS their man and when Dean emerged as a frontrunner, then Clark was shot in. (Btw, I WOULD TOTALLY SUPPORT CLARK OR WHICHEVER DEMOCRAT WAS THE NOMINEE.)

I like Clark, but I'm not convinced yet (maybe I will be, but not yet) that he's the best man for the job. Just because he's the likely DLC man of choice does not make him automatically my guy.

Dean/Graham '04

1. Doesnt the DLC want the party more pro corporate
because Edwards while hes not Kucinich on economic issues hes not Lieberman either. That actually is one of the things I like about Senator Edwards hes anti corporate power.

4. I think the DLC just wants to win (why did the pick Clinton,
for God's sake? -- Clinton had a record in Arkansas of protecting the middle class even if it meant denying profits to big corporations).

I've repeated this a few times: David Broder said on NPR that the DLC doesn't like Edwards that much because he has voted agains free trade bills when they've jeopardized manufacturing jobs in NC.

5. of course
I just dont see Edwards as the DLC's man on a ticket. I like John Edwards and if you are a North Carolinan can I trade George Allen for him. Edwards I really do like him and so does DK, he was a great lawyer, I love a guy who is self made, and hes good on issues. Youre right. I dont have a problem with Edwards.

6. Edwards is in his first term...
...and from what I understand, admires Clinton. Although perhaps a member of the DLC, and maybe someone they thought would be their poster boy, I don't think he's their man at the moment. He talks too much about going after corporate crime.

2. Clark was awful about the shipping jobs overseas and not paying taxes
question. He shouldn't be labor's candidate, though the DLC probably loves him.

Kerry still falls in line almost 100% with the DLC establishment. Same-O, same-O.

3. If I were in the DLC, I'd want Kerry-Clark.
That just seems like the safe call at this point. It accomodates a lot of different possibile strategies by Bush. But I also think it's almost too safe -- I don't think it ensures the bigges possible margin of victory, and I don't think it helps Democrats win congressional and state races all over the country. You could probably guess that I think an Edwards-____ (maybe Clark) ticket would be a winner.

7. The DLC can't "want". It doesn't have a preference
It's a frigging think tank. It has a chairman with only administrative, not autocratic power.

Dean is a DLC democrat. Graham is a DLC democrat.

Just you wait....
