I predict that the Right Wing's response to London attacks will be
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 02:22 PM by baby_mouse
...a sneering, ugly "nyer nyer we told you so" babyish pile of crap about how it's all the fault of the liberals, see there you are, that's why we need to be in Iraq, SMIRK SMIRK, SMIRK.

They will TAKE PLEASURE in this, just as the RW fundies have done in 9/11, but it will be more acceptable for more of them to do so because the bombsites are overseas.

Watch for it. Their sickness will reveal itself.

There will be next to no actual sympathy for the victims unless somehow they manage to worm their own worthless ideology into it somewhere, somehow.

They do not give a FUCK about the British. We could go to hell and back with the right wing, and our soldiers are doing so, and they will still show themselves up for the petty, ugly, mind-cramped little turds they are.

Watch for it. In some threads, I can see it's started already.

EDIT:

The Freeptards have, with an air of the utmost sincerity, asked DU (as it is, apparently, in our own self-interest) to "maintain dignity" and not politicise this event whilst smearing their *own* discussion boards all over with incitements for the British to riot against their own Muslim citizens.

I will not express any opinion of this. I am not quite sure what to say.

2. Ehh, they don't really care about the 9/11 victims either
So I wouldn't even expect that they care about the British victims.

16. the more they mess things up, the more the praise themselves
like the Great Society: they wrecked it and starved it and then turned around in the 80's and called for its abolition because it had "failed." Just like Brzezinski and Ray-Gun's little jaunts with the mujahedeen were promptly forgotten in the 90's and ESPECIALLY after Bush's little trifecta, where he failed so miserably that he rode a goddamn wave of popularity into two wars, maximal approval ratings, near-total power and total immunity, and a second term (with a little help from the Diebold Fairy, a'course).

It'll even seem to be working out for them for a while.

And then public opinion turns around, lowering the boom onto their pointy little heads to great anguish and whining.

10. It's the fault of the Liberals because Liberals make Us Look Weak.
What should we do about that? Show that Liberals are not Weak; they don't want to just stick their heads in a hole in the ground and pretend that everything is okay (like a lot of people do on BOTH SIDES of these issues).

Liberals are strong because we are smart AND Creative.

We think horizontally and laterally, e.g. I tend to chunck information cognitively, so I tend to be about 5 minutes head of lots of conversation - BAD habit, i'm sorry, but is the way my brain works. It has proven pretty useful raising teenagers and teaching high school seniors. I am not an unusual person in Liberal groups, outside of those groups I am, sometimes I'm even regarded with suspicion. I don't mean to be threatening; it's just the way I am: articulate and a little faster than average, but not as fast as some I've met.

Liberals like me would have come up with all kinds of other things to do about our Oil pit bull who got off his leash, better than killing 100,000 people.

Innocent Dead = Jesus.

13. Yep.
Conservatives have always derided the notion of diplomacy in dealing with these matters. Not sure why, but they always get their jollies in "let's go out and kick some butt." They see JFK as an appeaser and Clinton as one also. I never understood what was so wrong with going to the negotiating table before you HAVE to go to war.

I also noticed that you lumped "fundies" into this category of neocon war-loving fools. I will write a thread about this one soon as I can.

Iraq = war of choice? Absolutely.

What do you guys think?
