Can YOU Pass the "Kooky Karl" Kwiz?
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 11:35 AM by MrBenchley
Hey, kids! Are you wondering, like Karl Rove was lately, what the difference(1) between liberals and conservatives is? Neither am I, but then you and I are not as stupid as a Republican official. Still, in case you come across an acqaintance or relative who is interested in discussing that difference, heres a handy quiz to help them through the quandry.

1) "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war" said Karl. What was the most important part of that preparation?
a) Sitting motionlessly to listen to schoolchildren read "My Pet Goat"before sprinting for a bunker in Nebraska to hide for the rest of the day.
b) Preventing Dixie Chicks records from being played on the radio.
c) Re-naming fried potatoes and fried, egg-dipped bread so that France doesn't get credit for them.
d) Making officers who point out what was actually needed for war resign from the Pentagon.
e) All of the above.

2) "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war" said Karl. What was the SECOND most important part of that preparation?
a) Trying to get the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge opened for drilling because otherwise the terrorists would win(1).
b) Trying to get a massive tax break for the richest 1% of Americans(3).
c) Letting the guy who masterminded that 9/11 savagery stroll unimpeded into Pakistan(4).
d) Destroying evidence in the anthrax attack case(5).
e) All of the above.

3) "I don't know about you, but moderation and restraint is not what I felt when I watched the twin towers crumble to the ground, a side of the Pentagon destroyed, and almost 3,000 of our fellow citizens perish in flames and rubble." Karl told his conservative audience. Which of these noted young conservatives felt just like Karl, threw moderation and restraint aside, and joined the military immediately?
a) George P. Bush, nephew of the current White House occupant.
b) Jeb Bush Junior, nephew of the current White House occupant.
c) Billy Bush, cousin of the current White House occupant.
d) Andrew M. Rove, son of Karl Rove.
e) None of the above.

4) "I don't know about you, but moderation and restraint is not what I felt when I watched the twin towers crumble to the ground, a side of the Pentagon destroyed, and almost 3,000 of our fellow citizens perish in flames and rubble." Karl told his conservative audience. Which of these was the most valuable result of conservatives not being moderate or restrained?
a) We invaded a country that had nothing at all to do with the 9/11 attacks, and now 135,000 American troops are bogged down in a futile occupation.
b) Osama Bin Laden, the architect of the 9/11 savagery, remains at large, with his criminal organization much larger and more powerful than before the attacks.
c) Virtually every ally we had in the world is estranged, and this country, which was a beacon of human rights, human rights is now synonymous with torture.
d) Our troops are fighting alone while the White House pretends that countries like Eritrea and the Solomon Islands are helping the war effort.
e) All of the above.

5) Rove fretted aloud to his audience about the danger to our troops. Which of these actions is least likely to increase this danger?
a) Claiming that war is a cakewalk and refusing to adequately prepare for the effort needed(6).
b) Failing to secure weapons depots and ammuntions dumps after the invasion. (7)
c) Equipping the troops with inadequate and antiquated gear and publicly sneering at their concerns(8).
d) Keeping battle-weary troops on the front lines indefinitely. (9)
e) Pointing out that the torture currently being inflicted in the GOPs concentration camp at Guantanimo was pretty much like the torture dished out in totalitarian regimes.

6) Rove also said "liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," What would have been the drawbacks of that approach?
a) Osama Bin Laden and his gang might have been indicted, captured, tried and punished due to the cooperation of nearly every law enforcement organization on the planet.
b) Al Qaeda might have been disgraced and destroyed.
c) Americans might have understood who had attacked us and why they had done so.
d) Mental illness of the sort publicly exhibited by Karl Rove and his audience might get treated through therapy.
e) All of the above.

If your friend guessed "e" was the correct answer, tell him "congratulations." If he didnt get them all right, try this bonus question!

How long will Americans be stuck in Iraq?
a) Major combat operations ended more than a year ago(10).
b) Just a few weeks(11).
c) Less than six months (12).
d) Not long after the elections (13)
e) For generations to come. (14)

39. I agree with all but one major point of your quiz.
You're not actually suggesting that it would've been wise to actually prepare indictments, and treat the Afghan war as a police action, as opposed to a war are you? The military force used to crush the Taliban, and strike back at the terrorists was justified and necessary. The problem is, the Administration seems to have given up on finding him.

Long time lurker but I couldn't help but address this.

What would have been wrong with a police action? You say: "The military force used to crush the Taliban, and strike back at the terrorists ".

My answer is, what terrorists? (unless of course you mean the people held at Gitmo (eating yummy fish), without being formally charged with anything.)

By crush the Taliban do you mean:

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2005/06/25/1104480-ap...

or

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/asiapcf/06/25/afghan.batt... /

that Taliban, sure looks like they were crushed.

The whole Bush folly has never had anything to do with 9/11 or Afghanistan. He really couldn't have given a crap whether it was a police action or not.

51. You know what it seemed to me sometimes?
Like Bush felt like he "had" to go invade Afghanistan, just because they were the country that, well, you know, actually harbored the terrorists who attacked us.

What I mean is, I could imagine the conversation going like this:

Bush: You mean we can't just invade Iraq?

Darth Halliburton (aka Dick Cheney): No, my apprentice....they didn't have anything to do with the attacks. It will take time to manipulate public sentiment, as well as some bogus intelligence.

Bush: So we can invade Iraq later?

Rove: Of course we will, George. That's all part of the plan.

Darth Halliburton: Just think of Afghanistan as practice...

At one time I wondered how different the situation in Afghanistan might be right now if the Neocons didn't all but abandon it in their hard-on to go to Iraq. As bad as Iraq's been bungled, it probably wouldn't have made any difference.

Spot on there. The plan to take out Iraq was in the cards long before 9/11 see:

http://www.prospect.org/print/V14/4/dreyfuss-r.html

Afghanistan wasn't even practice, there nothing much there to take out and as both Russia and the U.K. have learned it's almost impossible to hold.

Bush knew what the target was all along, he just needed an excuse, hence all the conspiracy theories about 9/11 (which sometimes seem to close to the truth to be dismissed){Tinfoil Hat off}he he

83. You might recall that it took Orrin Hatch
a day or two after 9/11 to mention that it was Osama behind the attacks...and that the Pirates of Halliburton were outraged that he did....

Furhtermore, you might also recall that the "evidence" that Osama was behind the attacks was Osama's OWN STATEMENTS...and that Powell, et al, dragged their feet and never produced the evidence they claimed to have (mostly because a big chunk of it would have been summed up in the famous briefing memo that they ignored in August, 2001)...

80. I think that treating the attacks as a criminal act
and using the military only to reinforce the law, rather than as an invasion and occupation force, would have been a wiser course of action...

Remember, the Taliban had crumbled under the weight of united international condemnation and were willing to extradite Bin Laden to a country of their choosing when we started the invasion and bombing. Who knows but that with another week or two's constant pressure they might have dropped that reservation and have been willing to extradite him to the Hague for trial in the ICC...

But of course, the drunk and his gang don't believe in the ICC, for some bizarre reason...

127. Exactly
And I think and contrast and comparison of the action of Clinton's prevention of the Millenium Bomb Plot and the inaction on Bush's part that led to 9/11 is in order, too.

I'll bet lots and lots of people have absolutely no idea Clinton prevented this terrorist attack.

Imagine if after the WTC bombing in 1992 Clinton did nothing at all but blame Poppa Bush?

And remember, Clinton got the guys who did that arrested, fairly tried in public and justly convicted in an American courtroom without shredding the Consittuion or spying on public libraries.

And let's also remember that while Poppa Bush was in office, the blind imam who masterminded the plot somehow ended up in Jersey City without local law enforcement knowing he was there--even though he had been expelled from Egypt for his role in terrorist activities there.

108. I made a nice FU in BIG letters to go across my screen...
Traitors, FU, etc. I literally no longer care. What can you do about it, you know. It tells you a few things though and 1 is that we've hit a nerve because all this major activity I'm picking up under "tight security" on a "personal high-level super-secure server" w/the best hard and soft firewalls running (tight lockdown mode), non-freeware virus and spamware protection and another that (can't say out here) poofs me let's say... still big red alerts on certain postings out here.

Started the very day the DSM was delivered. Has been non-stop since. Even hit me bigtime last night when I ran a search for the DSM's on Yahoo. No other news links but the DSM'S.

What's that tell us: Someone has hit a major artery, a raw nerve.

So... :hi: traitors, spying on your fellow Americans or maybe freeping on these posts w/that little something no one could visualize even viewing the source. :hi: while we practice our freedoms of speech.

Yes, they are traitors coming in from Tiawan, VA (Lang$l*y) and back to Texas, and MASS, JHU Balitmore, MD all the while they intercept then ping so quickly you can't block/ban them less you pull the plug ASAP. By then they have your location and Comp ID/ISP/etc.

If I stop coming here, they win.

Also from TX, VA, DC and back to me... and another place NE of PA near the Ocean. I don't know. It's back going on since the day DSM was delivered.

Never has my firewalls (2), and major non-freeware spyware & virus programs ever alerted me like this: red alerts flashing like crazy, and I'm under "tight security."

Beat's me. Just a heads-up is all.

104. I think I can make this even simpler:
You have mosquitos in your backyard. Do you:

a. Bring out a machine gun and start firing wildly in all direcitons

or

b. Protect yourself with bugspray and eliminate the conditions that allowed the mosquitos to breed.

That's the whole problem with the republican response, in a nutshell. The terrorism problem has WORSENED because they have done nothing to strike at the ROOT CAUSE of the problem. That's what the dems are trying to do: boost our protection around the country (police, borders, common sense checks) and then find the breeding grounds of terrorism and fix those conditions.
