How do Republicans support the troops?
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 02:52 PM by BurtWorm
Let us count the ways:

1) They use them to fight Bush's and the oil companies' poorly plotted war, when they're being told they're fighting a mythical "war on terrorism."

2) They use them as props in political photo ops.

3) They expose them to depleted uranium.

4) They leave them without armor.

5) They nullify their contracts to make them serve longer stints than they bargained for because military recruiters can't sucker enough recruits to fight the war.

6) They don't protect them from creditors and other financial predators who plunder their property at home while they're overseas.

7) They pretend the dead don't exist, and forbid the press from reveaaling that they do.

8) They pretend the wounded don't exist.

9) They stiff the VA so anyone who survives Iraq to become a veteran comes home to broken promises.

10) They create a climate in which torture of soldiers in their war is acceptable, endangering any US service person who might become a prisoner of war.

Feel free to add to the list.

3. They say they support the troops... use it only for political gain.
Beyond that... it's just empty rhetoric.

4. I was just going to post something similar to this...
This is an excellent post and 100% correct. Everything that you said is true.

The neocons expect the troops to do the dirty work while their fat cat friends and corporations reap huge windfalls. Civilian contractors are making money hand over fist, while our troops make an average of about $500 a week. They now have the audacity to assign the military to protect civilian convoys. This is absolutely outrageous!

The way our military and veterans are treated by this administration should be a huge talking point for the Dems. They need to make the public aware that the rethugs are talking out their ass.

I guess by slapping a magnetic ribbon (made in china) on your SUV, you have supported the troops and no further support is necessary.

I grew up in a military family (father career Navy) and I served in the Navy as well. I know from experience the hardships that our troops and their families face when a family member is serving overseas. The idea that our government basically hangs them out to dry and to fend for themselves makes my blood boil.

The neocons are traitors, as far as I am concerned. Treasonous, murdering, greedy traitors.

5. Thank you very much for your kind words.
They mean a lot coming from a veteran.
