Isn't It Time we take a page from the Repugs: Never Apologize
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 08:06 AM by JCMach1
I am sick of hearing Dem apologists... Forget it, the politics of civility died with the Clinton impeachment. It's war, and our reps just don't seem to get it!

Ever see Bush apologize for ANYTHING? Frist? Hastert?

I didn't think so...

1. And the Democrats need to start threatening the repukes
lives and the lives of their family members? If we want an even playing field here, THAT is what the Dems will need to do. I don't see that happening. The BFEE will kill any of them...in a heartbeat Those damn private jets always have problems you know. ESPECIALLY the ones DEMOCRATS fly on.

2. You got that right! Especially when you speak TRUTH to POWER ...
I am of the mind to VOTE OUT the spineless Democratic leaders who either sit on the fence, or worse, apologize when they are speaking the truth.

NO NEED TO QUALIFY ... I know that's coming but the Republicans never do that. Just because the Republican noise machine begins to ramp up does not give you the luxury of "wimping out."

Buck up and weather the Media Storm Democratic Representatives. Remember that the corporate mass media does NOT represent YOUR CONSTITUENTS and *stay strong* in your resolve. Why? We will reward you at the ballot box (Die bold hopefully dysfunctional).

However, the WIMPS will we washed out ... I feel the incoming tide. To use one of Bush-Cos favorite sports analogies = Either play ball or get your butts off of the field. :-)

3. The Dems cave and apologize
the R's say things like "Go f**k yourself." On the Senate floor no less. I think it's time for the policy of "response in kind." Why should we play by the rules when the other side has thrown them out the window?

21. The Dems will continue to get trampled until they get as nasty as the
Repukes and turn every dirty trick back on them with gusto and lagniappe.

this is assumed to be a republican property alone, to be aggressive and bold and nasty and rough and coarse, we can do it too, and we should

7. Durbin apologized because he heard more voices of
outrage than he did of support. Maybe we should keep that in mind if we want them to never apologize for anything.

Durbin should have KNOWN that the USA Corporate Media is *anything* but Democratic or Liberal.

As I mentioned before, he lost his nerve. Forget him, no empathy from me.

What we need is Democratic Representatives who are NOT AFRAID despite the deafening Republican Noise Machine, to speak truth to power on their constituents' behalf.

The DLC needs to understand that many of us would rather see Republicans over run us than to support this present bunch of sniveling whiny Democrats. Why? I know how to intimidate republicans. Damn those gutless wonders who won't stand up for US. If they won't do their jobs, then the republicans DESERVE to win.

It's time to get tough or resign. When Durbin apologized, he was showing us that he values "his job" over his constituents' needs. I think I may dislike him almost as much as a republican for doing such a sniveling suck-up to the Majority Party.

18. I'm not even refering to the media.
I'm talking about people calling, writing, and e-mailing. Everyone knows the media has gone to shit.

And I don't think Durbin needs to resign for apologizing. He probably thought he really offended everyone. He has no way of knowing what people are thinking if we don't call in and support him as much as the dark side calls in to tear him down. I suspect he was getting thousands of letters/calls from the limbaugh listeners.

...and I would actually prefer the sniveling democrats to being overrun by republicans.

24. If Durbin can't tell the difference between Freepers and Constituents ...
Then perhaps he should resign and put some other "more courageous" Democrat forth to take his position?

Again, IMO, if we cut these Reps slack, they will continue to embarrass us.

26. Resign for apologizing?
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 09:04 AM by Goldeneye
In my opinion that may be a tad extreme. I wish he wouldn't have apologized, but he has a good record and I'm not going to throw him overboard because of one issue.

Maybe the freepers were his constituents. If all you hear are voices saying you are a horrible traitor and you better apologize, you're going to crack. I'm just saying we need to make sure we call/write/e-mail as much as the right wingers.

27. He's gutless - yes, it would serve as an example to Both Houses
No moderate to liberal Democrat wants anymore "Lieberman's," or Heaven forbid, no more PNAC, Bankruptcy Bill supporting "Bidens." :P

If we are forgiving we will only encourage more spineless, sniveling, gutless wonder Democrats to run for both House and Senate.

8. Except for when we're wrong.
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 08:21 AM by leveymg
The key is, keep on the moral, intelligent side of things. The problem is, convincing our Party leaders that it's smart politics to really act as a principled opposition rather than as triangulators. If you take a principled stand, stick to your guns.

For better or for worse, that's what the Repugs did after '64, and they got the White House in '68 when the Johnson Administration self-destructed over Vietnam. We can learn from our opponents. They are smart politicians, regardless of the substance of their policies.:kick: :dunce:

16. They are THUGS. We must either lower ourselves or lose any semblance
of our Democracy. There's just no EASY or truly MORAL choice. But we must decide, and decide soon?

19. There is a moral CHOICE: the Dems have to make the case for
Impeachment and keep repeating the I-word every time they get on the floor and before the cameras.

It will sink through, just like DSM did. The key is persistence and a unified message.

9. Frists Non-Appology Is A Gift That Will Keep Giving
I'm glad he's lied and tried to tap dance his way out of this. It all but makes that soundbite of his on the Senate floor saying he diagnosed from the video so much more damning. Democrats won't even have a chance to use it...be assured some Repugnican media-type already has the script written.

Yesterday, I was scanning around and heard a talk show from Bellingham, Washington...a small station in a mostly conservative part of that state, and the host was blasting Hostetler...the Repugnican who got on the house floor and threw a hissy-fit how Democrats were "non-christian".

The corporate media glossed over this, but this guy on a small station found it...and most the callers couldn't believe someone could say such a thing. The guy had soundbites...the callers got even more incredulous.

Just because you don't appologize doesn't mean people don't remember...and if anything, makes you appear detached and/or stupid. It's Bunnypant's inability to admit things are going wrong or he's made mistakes that's hurting his popularity ratings as much as the poor fortunes of the economy & the war. People know he's lying now. No appology coming from there either.

For Repugnicans...appologizing makes one appear "weak"...let that be their downfall as they are cast as liars and war-mongers. That meme is starting to get some legs in that vaunted "middle America" they claim they own.

It musta got lost in the shuffle with the DSM being a fake and global warming being an anomoly. I get so confused in my old age. LOL

After watching Joementum hop on the Senate floor after McCain and giving his blessing, it was all as you say it was.

:sarcasm:

LOL

Cheers!

17. You are absolutely correct. WE HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR.
The party of death, war, lies, and corruption are the ones who need to be on their hands and knees apologizing to the American people for all their crimes.

20. Durbin brought it on himself.
If he was tagging the Bush administration with the "Nazi" label he should have said so. Instead he chickened out and allowed the Repukes to characterize what he said as a hit at the troops. And then he confirmed their accusations by apologizing to the troops.
