Why isn't Uzbekistan a Democratic talking point?
The reason now being offered for the invasion and continued occupation of Iraq is that we're spreading freedom. Yet it's well documented that in nearby Uzbekistan, the U.S. had been in bed with a regime nearly as bad as Saddam's.

Last month 500 to 1000 people were massacred by the Uzbeki government in a protest, but the Bush Administration has blocked international efforts for an investigation of the matter.

(Read more about it.)

Bush cares about freedom, eh? That's a lie, and the policy towards Uzbekistan is proof it's a lie.

Furthermore, this already has potential to be a wedge issue to split the GOP. Six Senators wrote a letter of protest on this matter and 4 of them were Republicans. (Interesting is that Biden was one of the two Democats.) If this issue is pushed to the front burner, more criticism from GOP ranks could be expected, and the more GOP infighting there is, the better.

So where are the Kerrys and Boxers and Feingolds on this matter? I know the nation has many concerns which must be addressed, but these folks do put in at least 8 to 10 hour days, n'est-ce pas?
