'We went to war because we were attacked'...sorry bush, that's a lie
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 10:48 AM by mopaul
"We went to war because we were attacked, and we are at war today because there are still people out there who want to harm our country and hurt our citizens," Bush said Saturday in his weekly radio address.

sorry, that's just stupid dubya, iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, how many times do we have to remind you of that? maybe if we repeat it thousands of times you might start to believe it huh?

3. They're not counting on appealing to the intelligent in people.
I'm not sure how long the appeal to the stupid will work for them, but they seem to be counting on it lasting as long as they need it to.

14. Hitler used the same lies when he invaded Poland
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 10:54 AM by moobu2
Sorry to invoke that name but he did. Hitler blamed England and said he invaded because, well, it was everyone else fault.

This is from Nazi propaganda pamphlet explaining why Hitler invaded Poland -published in 1939.

Why are we fighting?

Because we were forced into it by England and its Polish friends.

<snip>

We are fighting for our most valuable possession: our freedom. We are fighting for our land and our skies. We are fighting so that our children will not be slaves of foreign rulers. That is in no way an exaggeration or empty phrase.

<snip>

We are fighting for Germany's freedom and for Germany's right to be a people that has all it needs to preserve its national existence. The Führer made unprecedented offers for peace and understanding to those who are now fighting against Germany. His attempts were scornfully rejected because they wanted this fight.

<snip>
We are fighting to save our children from the unbearable threats of the Western democracies, driven by envy and hatred. We are fighting for a happy future in a free Germany and in a peaceful Europe.

15. If Iraq had attacked us, Bush wouldn't have had to spend
practically every day from August of 2002 until March of 2003 trying to convince the American people and the world that we needed to invade Iraq. He could have simply said, "Iraq attacked us."

If Iraq had attacked us Bush wouldn't have had to come up with a hundred justifications for war, all of which have since turned out to be crap. Once the war started, he wouldn't have had to go around saying that we were liberating the people of Iraq and that was our reason for invading. He could have simply said, "Iraq attacked us."

Revisionism: It's What's For Dinner.

22. "No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/140133_bushiraq18.html

Bush said yesterday there was no attempt by the administration to try to confuse people about any link between Saddam and Sept. 11.

"No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," Bush said. "What the vice president said was is that he (Saddam) has been involved with al-Qaida.

"And al-Zarqawi, an al-Qaida operative, was in Baghdad. He's the guy that ordered the killing of a U.S. diplomat. ... There's no question that Saddam Hussein had al-Qaida ties."

No excuse for getting revenge on the wrong people.

I can assure you that if someone killed a family member of mine, and I killed the wrong person in return, I'd be in prison.

24. In a way he's right....
The PNAC knew in 2000 that they couldn't invade Iraq unless there was "some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor."

By golly, we sure got that. Then Pinky and the Brain were finally able to get their world dominance plans off the ground.

it's really stupid the way they WROTE down their plans for all to see
i mean, the project for a new american century was published widely, and signed proudly by it's authors, and they must not have thought it out too good cause they give themselves away with the 'pearl harbor type event NEEDED' thingy.

to me, it's evidence, that this was the plan all along, and all into the future, the world be damned.

28. Their explicitness is part of the process
By parading around as criminals for all to see, they intentionally reinforce the perception that THEY are above the law while WE are powerless to do anything about it.

They want us to know that they know that we know they are criminals (I believe that's commonly referred to as double reverse psychology).

We must kill, kill, kill. There are STILL people who hate us. A really sick version of the old joke about how the beatings will continue until morale improves.

33. In a bizarre way, he's actually telling the truth.
"...we are at war today because there are still people out there who want to harm our country and hurt our citizens."

The way I read it, the "people out there" are in the White House, they are in Saudi Arabia, they are in Pakistan, in Afghanistan and Iraq, and they are all intricately tied together with a single individual for their agenda: george w. bush.

You bet they want to harm our country and hurt us, and you can bet that george w. bush doesn't give a damn as long as it serves his purposes.
