Congressional Black Caucus - 2000 election and DSM
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 07:00 PM by nini

When I saw this picture yesterday it hit me - these are the same people that stood up to the election results in 2000. I remember the scenes in Farenheit 911 and the members of the Black Caucus speaking out when the election was being certified. It was a poignant moment in the movie showing the frustration in their search for what is right.

Now they showing yet again they have the guts to stand up when they see democracy being theatened.

I would like to publicly acknowledge them for this and thank them for their bravery and commitment to what is right in this country.

1. I'll never forget watching the CBC on TV, C-Span to be precise
when they stood up for America, her system of government, and the people of America.

I cried some bitter tears that day. Seeing that day replay itself in F911 brought all those feelings back to the surface - not that they are ever far away from the surface.

I'm not over Selection 2000 and, unless justice is done, I never will be.

6. I don't have cable and you know the MSM didn't give it to much attention
Seeing it in F911 was an emotional moment for me. Very frustrating to see each of them stand up and fight.

I love Maxine Waters and am proud to be from the same city as her.

2. What makes them so gloriously correct, I wonder?
I have always noticed that they are almost always* on the right(eous) side of most issues.

Why do the elected whites (by and large)* seem so incognizant of righteousness and the importance standing up for principles?

Please do not be offended by the generalization: anyone the least bit scientifically/logically inclined cannot escape this conclusion, if you have been watching politics in the last decade or so. Earlier history also seems to lead to the same conclusion.

When I say "scientifically/logically" I am referring to this really: the characteristic I am talking of ("standing up") seems almost endemic to (all) members of the CBC. On the other hand, we can probably count on one hand the number of the non-CBC that routinely stand on the right(eous) side. (In other words, I am using the law of percentages.)

I have a thesis, but I will wait to hear your opinions first...

3. Blacks speak out because
we are taught very early to find our voice, and because we have nothing to lose.

Fear is a bitch. Once you overcome it, you become the bitch.

8. Fear... we've sure seen the results of what fear does since 9-11

All people need to find that voice or we are doomed.
