Are Republicans Putting Party Before Country?
I heard on CSPAN this morning from someone who stated that Republicans are putting their party before country and I thought that pretty much summed it up... What do you think?

4. They are putting their job security and bank accounts
before country. The Republican party itself is just a collateral beneficiary.

6. There are few things as crystal clear...
They will destroy their own country if that's what's needed to tow the party line, even that alleged patriot John McCain.

13. McCain (my senator)
is one of the worst. He has managed to pull the wool over the eyes of many Dems, even many on this forum. You only need see that picture of McCain humping Bush's leg on the campaign trail to know that with him, and them, it's about party first.

9. Of course, this is nothing new
The last Republican president who put his country first was Ike.

The contemporary Republican party is a craven, awful, demented beast devouring and debasing everything it can get its slimy, rotten fingers around.

14. Watch for military move to swear allegiance to *
Then, we'll know that our job will have become much more complex and difficult.

17. They won't do it quite that way, IMO
The American mindset isn't that into equating loyalty to an individual person with goodness, and getting soldiers to swear allegiance to * would set off too many alarms.

No, they'll have it be some kind of "loyalty to Jesus" oath or something like that--the kind of thing an average, uninformed US citizen might look at and say, "Well that's a good thing." Then they will declare themselves the earthly representatives of divine will.

18. I think the first is going to be it
I don't think most people would have the same hair-raising reaction to swearing loyalty to an individual as we might.

15. We are so divided between party lines, but I really don't think we
try to rape people's rights and give more power to the corporations.

16. You'd vote "Mickey Mouse for Pres" if he was a republican.
This was what one fellow at work said to a young republican co-worker.

I just pointed out the young republican already did vote for Mickey Mouse.

Party above country -- no doubt about it!
