subcommittee votes to end Corp. Pub. Broadcasting funding in 2 years
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 05:53 PM by phantom power
A House subcommittee voted yesterday to sharply reduce the federal government's financial support for public broadcasting, including eliminating taxpayer funds that help underwrite such popular children's educational programs as "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," "Arthur" and "Postcards From Buster."

In addition, the subcommittee acted to eliminate within two years all federal money for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting -- which passes federal funds to public broadcasters -- starting with a 25 percent reduction in CPB's budget for next year, from $400 million to $300 million.

1. Kinda puts the 06 election importants in perspective
We're going to need to win soon if we want a real chance of rebuilding from the ashes they intend to leave.

3. and why would that be a bad thing anymore?
think about it....some good shows would die, but, politically/editorially speaking, PBS/NPR are veering dramatically rightward

just look at the hosts of their shows.

aside from NOW, is there one other liberal at the helm?

I almost never watch PBS anymore

7. UM, not that much......too laid back for me
Look who's running things now on radio and TV....CIA/Bush flunkies

it's only going to get worse until we get the fascoids out, if ever, thx to BBV/general inattentiveness to things like Sensenbrenner's further dismantling of 'democracy' earlier today

nobody cares, at least not enough to make a diff
