Basing laws on beliefs

I am only 13, but it is becoming clear to me that the Bush administration's policies on embryonic stem cell research, abortion, gay marriage and other "moral values" issues are nothing but personal beliefs and opinions presented as universal law.

The ideas that marriage is between one man and one woman and that embryonic stem cell research and abortion are wrong are not shared by all Americans.

You don't see vegetarians trying to make it illegal for everyone to eat meat, do you?

3. No, but you do see animal protection laws and so on.

The belief that animal suffering is bad is not universal, but we have laws against it.
