"Republicans See Glimmer of Hope in California"
Mehlman visiting the Bay Area every six weeks....hmmm.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050606/ap_on_re_us/california_republicans
======
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Every six weeks, the Republican Party chairman has traveled to California, a large and solidly Democratic Party stronghold. With Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor and the state's most conservative areas growing rapidly, Republicans are sensing an opportunity.

Democrats have won the last four presidential contests in California and maintain overwhelming majorities in the congressional delegation and legislature.

But Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman insists GOP prospects are improving, thanks to demographic changes and Schwarzenegger's star power.

"There's tremendous opportunity here because of the governor and his leadership, and because of President Bush

and his leadership," Mehlman said in a recent interview.

1. Oh, those rose colored glasses.
Nobody is going to pay Mehlman for telling the truth about California or Iraq or Guckert or anything.

14. Yep! They reinstate Diebold....no damn wonder they're
optimistic!

It was SoS Kevin Shelley that outlawed Diebold for the last election, and within 24 hours, the news media quit saying that California looked like a "swing state", and put it back in the blue column.

Now that the gropernator and his goons have gotten rid of Shelley, they're reinstating the Diebold machines, and guess what? Suddenly, California might go republican!

DUH!!!

27. Well, after the "liberal" SF Chron orchestrated the smear job on Shelley
thus paving the way for a Diebold-friendly Republican SOS... with things like the redistricting power grab up for a vote, I fear we truly are in for a "special" election.

Maybe it's just because I live in a rather conservative part of CA, but the climate seems to have shifted really right here, with the coastal areas only being reliably blue and the others cutting it pretty close :scared:

At a cost of $70M to taxpayers, Ahnold has called for a "special election" to be held in 2005, before the 2006 election when the ES&S voting machines that dominate California's voting booths will be required to provide paper-receipts.

In this "special" election, three initiatives will be put before the voting public. One of those initiatives will call for REDISTRICTING of voting districts. Sound familiar???!!! Yes, this is precisely what the Repugs (DeLay and company) did in Texas, effectively diluting out traditionally Dem districts and swinging the voting bias to Republican candidates. (for relevant articles, visit http://archive.democrats.com/preview.cfm?term=Texas+Redistricting)

So, between rigged ES&S voting machines and redistricting, the fate of California is, in fact, in jeopardy. The RNC has a very strategically organized plan for California and have put Arnold in charge of driving it to completion.

Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 05:51 PM by nikraye
The Repugs have driven Dem Kevin Shelley out of his Sec of State office. No doubt a Repug will replace him, giving Arnold and his fellow Rethugs absolute power over the voting here in California.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

No kidding? :eyes: I wish the Ca. citizens could have seen that before they put that man in charge. Everyone outside of Ca. knew what the fuck the repukes were doing, why didn't the star struck voters of Ca.????? Now we're fucked....ROYALLY! The ONLY thing that can save us is if FRAUD is found, people are indicted and we prove the fraud in court.

WE-ARE-SCREWED.

people just make shit up and then declare it to be the absolute truth. I don't think I've heard one person say Arnold was doing a good job since he became Governor - nah, not one.

because he's putting in evoting machines all over the state and can STEAL the votes and WILL. The election will be rigged.

31. Mehlman's hopemobile has 4 flats and is stranded in Death Valley!
Hitching the republican hooptie station wagon to the back of the Governator's Hummer has caused him to inhale toxic fumes which have left him permanently unable to recognize truth and poll numbers. Californians protesting everywhere AS the BS'er goes. That includes safe places like "the OC" where faux buff boy is not even welcome.

Definitely stayin' Blue!
