Why did Bushit* name the day "Patriot Day"?
* We were attacked on 7 December 1941. No day was named after it that I can find on ANY calendar.

* "Patriot Day" is nominal, in name only. It is not a holiday. Nobody gets the day off like they Memorial Day and other days to remember those who we lost.

* "World Trade Center Day" sounds too much like a capitalistic ploy, though it's far more relevant than "Patriot Day".

* I refuse to believe the asshole* named it "Patriot Day" because he, knowing of the attempt beforehand and allowing it to happen, and allowed him to shove the "patriot act" down our throats and take away our freedoms, which have nothing to do with stopping terrorists despite being given the excuse that's what they'll do. Everybody's been using the patriot act for everything EXCEPT real terrorists. Indeed, had Gore been president and 9/11 happened, the repukes would want Gore crucified, televised for all to see. Why is Bushit* getting regal treatment for what he deliberately allowed to happen? (Gore would have prevented it, that's for sure.) He allowed 9/11 to happen. People died. Does "Patriot Day" mean those who died under Bush's* watch are patriots because they died for him* and his* cause? :scared:

1. There is already a Patriot's Day in Mass.
celebrating the battle of LExington/Concord.

It is also the day of the Boston Marathon (3rd Monday in April).

2. It should be a day of "infamy"- not celebration...
We dont "celebrate" Pearl Harbor as some kind of wonderful event- so why would any stable person "celbrate" this day of death, FEAR and destruction as "patriotic?"

I guess death, fear and destruction = "patriotic" to twisted "minds" like Bush/media.

5. Agreed...
It is a day of solemn remembrance, but never have we made a "holiday" out of a day of tragedy.

What was "patriotic" about the victims of this monstrous crime, or even of those who, heroically or not, did their jobs during the emergency?

3. Bush calls it "Patriot Day"...
...because it's a day of celebration for him. He hit the trifecta, and all the loyal lil 'patriots' rallied around him despite his being an incompetent boob. Thus, it's 'patriots day', a day Bush thanks them for not questioning his trifecta, and implores his lil patriots to once again rally around him in preventing questions and ensuring the advancement of his radical agenda...

4. Fascist characteristic #1
"Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays."

7. absolutely
...it is the most cynical and transparent of propaganda. The implicit message is a warning to those who might question the events of the day.

6. How about "First Responder Day"?
A little more cumbersome, I guess, but it recognizes firemen, policemen, EMTs, doctors, nurses, volunteers, and everyone else who responds to emergencies and helps people.

To answer my own question, maybe because Bush doesn't give a damn about this folks?
