Dean offers Bill Clinton position in his potential administration?
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 02:46 PM by wyldwolf
"I think Bill Clinton is the president who has come the closest to bringing the Israelis and Palestinians together," Dean told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Wednesday night.

The Vermont Democrat said he has called on President Bush to "swallow his pride and call Bill Clinton and ask Bill Clinton to go to the Middle East and begin the process of negotiating."

Then Dean indicated that if Bush wouldn't use Clinton, he would, saying, "Bill Clinton may be just the person we need to put those negotiations back on track."

This text is from Newsmax... so... yeah... read their spin on it:

4. Agreed
I actually said a year ago that maybe Bush ought to send Clinton to the Middle East, so I was excited when Dean suggested it on Wolf Blitzer.

Carter would be good too except that Israelis don't trust him, whereas Clinton is trusted to some degree by both sides.

2. Sounds like he's interested in Clinton
as kind of an emissary to the ME. I like it.

3. The difference between Repubs and Dems...
Y'know, I've long thought that you can really tell where Republicans' and Democrats' hearts and souls really are, respectively and comparatively, by looking at the kinds of things they do after they retire from public life. In this vein, look at the kinds of things Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter are doing around the country and world right now, and contrast that with what George H.W. Bush is doing with his time. (Reagan and Ford don't count, because of Reagan's Alzheimer's and they're both too old and frail to do much of anything any more.)

I'd like to elaborate on this point, but I don't have time because I have to go to work now. But y'all can figure it out for yourselves...

6. I think that what is interesting is that Newsmax ...
is hoping to stir up Dean hatred among their ... peculiar readers. They would do that about all of the candidates they fear.

7. Nail on the head
Their readers have an almost deranged hatred of the Clintons. Every time they want to stir the pot they mention either Bill or Hillary.

9. If we don't get the Senate back, Clinton would not be confirmed.
The repukes would line up on this one, and stonewall the hell out of it. I'm not even sure we could count on all of our Senate 'dems'.
