What American Want and Don't Want - This Says It All!!
http://www.tomflocco.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=2694&sid=74fb1831a6accbf3775afb6276756850#2694

(snip)

WHAT DO AMERICANS WANT?.....Here's a real list:

· We want national guard on our borders to secure them from the wave of illegal immigration we have been subjected to, and we want illegal immigrants deported. We are not bigots or racists. We simply cannot afford the expense of subsidizing the medical , social services, schooling, and policing costs of this illegal immigration. This crisis is adding to the growth of violence and breakdown in our society. And illegal immigrants do take service and constructions job that Americans want. Your lack of action of this issue is criminal and an example of ignoring the Constitution and the laws of the land while both parties work hand in hand to change both. It is the responsibility of the countries of origin to address the needs of their citizens.

· We want to purchase the bulk of our food from family run American farms that are paid a decent price for their product. We know they are being broken financially while the fruit and vegetables are grown in Mexico using cheap labor, sprayed with DDT, then trucked up and boxed in America to allow it to be labeled an American product. Another example of deceitful laws that both parties had a hand in that provides obscene profit for the multinational corporate farmer at the expense of our health and eventual economic prosperity, and our own farmers. And we are not too keen on being subjected to the unknown effects of genetically modified foods.

· We want this country to manufacture something other than the virtual wealth of the financial systems and we want to have manufacturing jobs for the next generation of citizens. We want basic industries like steel , auto, and appliance manufacturing to exist here . By outsourcing manufacturing you are creating a dependence on other countries that do not respect our founding political principles

· We want energy independence, not only from foreign oil but also from the multinational corporations that use our wealth and our children to make wars to steal it from other countries. We want the value of oil in this country to go more to the citizens of this country than to some corporation that has been gifted with all the profit for a campaign contribution. And we want to be freed from controlled sources of energy. We know the technology exists to power our electrical grid from wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and tidal sources, eliminating the controlled and poisoning effects of nuclear, coal, oil and gas for electricity. Further we know it is feasible to run conventional combustible engines on hydrogen and we can use this technology to extract hydrogen from the oceans. Instead of warring with other peoples we want a war on energy dependence that gets our citizens manufacturing the solution to the energy crisis before we are pulled into more devastating resource wars. And that is what is coming if do not act now. Why is it that other people want to attack this country?

· We want a real free press, not one where all forms of media are controlled by a few multinationals and we do not get the real news. There is coverage of emotive issues like Terri Schiavo but no coverage the effects of depleted uranium on the people of Iraq or our soldiers. Another example of real news we do not see on controlled media was recently reported by Jim Tucker, a reporter that has placed himself at the location of the Bildeburg Group yearly meetings for the past 20 years. This year he reported the group wants a tax on oil at the wellhead to fund more international governing and wants oil to rise to $150 a barrel in two years.

· We want our vote to have a thorough audit trail, not elections using suspect machines with the votes tallied out of sight by private companies. We would not bank or shop at a store that did not provide a receipt, but both parties have allowed our election process to become suspect. We also want the undue influence of special interests monies removed from the election process.

· We want a good educational system that provides excellent schooling for all our children, that results in students competent in reading, math, sciences, the founding principles of this country, and an understanding of the world we live in.

Yes, we want national health care, just as it is provided in all other developed countries. Not the for profit, not service, will more and more people having no coverage, form in this country.

· We want some real honesty and integrity from our representatives in government.

The list could go on but you can extrapolate.

WHAT DO AMERICANS NOT WANT?...Here's a real list:

· We do not want to lose our national sovereignty or enter into multinational agreements that has law making powers that supercede our national laws

· We do not want to enter into trade agreements that benefit multinational corporations at the expense of the general welfare of our citizens but laws that protect our economic independence.

· We do not want laws that require us to "show papers" to travel in our own country, or laws that track and enter us in databases.

· We do not want oppressive laws or the suppression of the expression of political views. There used to be a time that pornography was kept in out of the way places but people could demonstrate their political views publicly. Now "free speech" is a stream of violent and lewd images and fenced in free speech zones.

· We do not want laws that hide from the public the pollution by corporations, or what is in the food we eat.

We do not want the subsidy of pharmaceuticals by encouraging the drugging of our children in public schools with Ritalin. We also do not want the government screening our children or population for mental illnesses with the intent of mandating any type of drugging. These initiatives are obscene and reveal the real face of our government in its relationship to its citizens and the profits of corporations.

· We do not want to be an Empire, just a free Republic.

· We do not want to war on other people to steal from them for multinational corporations and give them cause for attacking us.

· We do not want our prisons filled with nonviolent drug offenders so there is sufficient room without building more to house all the violent offenders.

1. Better check Article VI on this one:
· We do not want to lose our national sovereignty or enter into multinational agreements that has law making powers that supercede our national laws

You'll find that any treaties we sign with foreign governments ARE the law of our land. Always have been and hopefully always will be.

2. I think you misunderstand.
The OP is referring to NAFTA (and others) that give these SUPRAGovernments (governments above ours) the ability to protect Corporate Profits without accountability to the citizens of our Nation.

Chapter 11 of NAFTA is especially offensive.
The State of California discovered that the carcinogenic chemical MTBE (a gasoline additive) has found its way into the drinking water of large parts of California. The State pf California took action to safeguard its citizens by legislating AGAINST adding MTBE to gasoline. The Canadian manufacturer of MTBE protested to NAFTA, which held a secret tribunal and decided that California had interfered with The Canadian Corporations right to make a profit and awarded a multi-Million Dollar award to the Corporation to be PAID BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA!!!!
There is NO APPEAL process.

The State of California was able to generate enough negative publicity for NAFTA that NAFTA has agreed to hold another SECRET TRIBUNAL to review the matter with the understanding that this was a voluntary action by NAFTA. I don't know if this matter was resolved.

I AM AGAINST the existence of SUPRA SHADOW Governments that exist OUTSIDE National Boundaries and ABOVE the lawmaking abilities and avenues of accountability of Nations.

NAFTA WILL continue to exist until the United States WITHDRAWS from the treaty. There is NO WAY to FIX or ADJUST NAFTA, as the Democratic party (John Kerry) would have you believe during 2004.
A worse treaty, CAFTA, is currently under negotiation.

3. I agree with the OP.
This would make a good party platform.

If we are going to practice tough love with immigration, I would like to liberalize those laws and provide support for jobs, healthcare, education, childcare, and training for legal immigrants. A WPA project for immigrants would be a good way to provide these supports while helping them to transition into tax paying legal American citizens. This would also open up jobs by denying Cheap Labor to the Corporate Cheats.

There would be plenty of jobs for EVERYONE if LABOR and Family Business had representation in Washington. It is not in our National Interest to export our industries, let Wal-Mart destroy our small independent family businesses, and force our family farmers to sell out to AGRIBUSINESS.
