Has anyone else seen the CNN

'In Memory' or 'In Memorium' blip. They showed pictures with names of soldiers who've died with a short bio. Hometown, age, date of death, family and future career ambition. It's strange to see names put to faces since this war has been so 'sanitized'.

I saw one for the first time on Aaron Brown's NewsNight as a prelude to a commerical.

The Pentagon has made sure the American people will not see the reality of what is going on in Iraq or Afganistan. To do so would cause people to face the reality of the lives that have been lost as Ted Kennedy said, "There was no imminent threat, "This was made up in Texas, announced in January to the Republican leadership that war was going to take place and was going to be good politically. This whole thing was a fraud."

Did they die in vain?

Do you have any doubts about that? This war didn't have to happen. The world is far worse off for it, not better. And it's not just our 300-odd dead soldiers, it's also thousands of Iraqi civilians and god-knows how many Iraqi soldiers. Every single one of those innocent people would be alive today but for George Bush.

You know, AB takes a lot of shit on DU. I mean, some DUers hate him, but I have seen some nice things said about him here too. Personally, I think AB seems pretty genuine.
