Ohio GOP Coin-gate hits the Governor's Office
by Joe in DC - 5/25/2005 07:17:00 AM

Well, well, well...is the coin-gate scandal finally starting to implicate major GOP major political figures in Ohio? Looks that way from today's Plain Dealer:

The investigation into the influence wielded by politically powerful Toledo coin dealer Tom Noe landed at state government's peak Tuesday - right in Gov. Bob Taft's office.

......

This is getting good. So why is it important for those of us outside of Ohio? Hmmm. Well, there was that election in 2004. The Ohio GOP has been in power for a very long time. They control the whole state's power infra-structure. And, they are out of control.

Coin-gate has become the symbol of the GOP's abuse of power. Tom Noe, the center of the scandal, is integrally related to all of the Ohio GOP power elite....and George W. Bush.

evil.

House Bill 228 will band ALL abortions, no matter the reason (death to mother, incests, rape, etc)

House and Senate Bill 8 - the Drugged Driving law (tests for the wine you drank last Tuesday)

They just keep em coming

On edit - not to forget the Patriot Preachers (Russel Johnson, Rodney Parsely)...all idiots from my own county BTW.

13. Listen, I was part of the Fairfield County recount (or non-recount)
if you will. I know all about it. MAYBE, just MAYBE, the dumbass decision by that judge in Washington made this week will open a door for Ohio.

Foolishly, someone forgot to clue him in I think.

14. I was a poll watcher in Franklin County .....
i watched the precinct judge and the republican "challenger" work
off a list of precinct voters together every time i left the room.

Sometimes i feel like I am living in a BAD MOVIE

I see a murder

I try to tell people about the murder

and nobody believes me .....

and I see the murderer on TV and he winks @ the camera to let me
know that he knows that i know ......

Bush ..... Dec '04 "Too much blue on the Xmas tree ..... Karl can you
change that blue ornament to red? Oh Good let me call the tree Ohio."

BTW was it Fairfield County that the re count did not match the machine
count and "they" stopped the count and brought in new hardware for
the machine after the weekend and then the count matched?

21. Yes indeed it was Fairfield County
Edited on Wed May-25-05 11:33 AM by mtnester
equipment malfunction....hey, that does not cause the HAND count to be wrong (twice BTW)

By law, every precinct in that county should have been recounted....as far as I am concerned, they broke the law.

I also worked for Election Protection in Franklin County Election Day. What I saw go on in 2A and 3C would have made your skin crawl (or itwas was 2C and 3A, I have to go back to my notes)

6. This has been fun to watch, also
when Noe's wife originally announced her forth coming resignation from her position with the election board in Toledo..word had it she was going on to something bigger and better, a possible appointment from "higher up" was mentioned. One of the reporters on local news was asking her about it at the time and she kept saying she couldn't respond to his question. I suspect it was true because I'd never seen that long time reporter be so excited about any interview. He also remarked they had known each other a long time..the reporter could hardly control his excitement.

Next thing we heard was Blackwell asking the entire board to resign or be fired. Now it's Coin-gate.

I just sit back and

 while waiting for it all to come out!

"Maybe more retirement plans should follow the example of Ohio's?"

Yea, right. Ohio's pension fund is going to be based on coins.

18. Wow! Five of the seven supreme judges stepped down from this case
because they received money from Noe.
http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1116495169202421.xml&coll=2

They had to search the woodwork to find enough judges in the appellate system which were able to hear the case.

20. Taft is toast anyway because of term limits
but what is really needed is to tie this scandal to Blackwell, Montgomery and Petro. We need to make sure that none of these jokers gets in the governor's office. We also need to tie it to the GOP leadership in the legislature. I do not have a lot of confidence in the Ohio voter in spite of the fact that I believe the last election was rigged.

giving less money based on the new budget. And did ANYONE see the MASSIVE amount of people the OEA got to protest the capital building yesterday on this matter? 11 years and school funding still not resolved.

I pray every day that Taft will rub off on the Repub candidates in the upcoming elections in 06

26. Ohio Dems need a united message in '06
They should run as a massive school levy campaign. Make the issue about school funding and property taxes and there won't be a middle class homeowner in the state who won't support them.
