The embryos just want to play soccer....
so says Rep Christopher Smith (R) New Jersey...

He claims that they should be welcomed in life and allowed to grow and play soccer :silly:

Do they really believe the crap that spews fro their mouths ..

The mantra of the day seems to be "save cord-blood"..that's as good as embryos..

The rub here, is that it's expensive to extract and preserve that cord blood and most rich families will save and bank that cord blood FOR THAT BABY..in case he/she develops a disease later in life.. BUT you can bet your bottom dollar that poor people will NOT be able to afford this option, so THEIR babies' cord blopod will be "available" for "harvesting.. and whaddayawannabet that there are republican businessment setting up cord-blood banls for just that purpose... for a hefty price to other rich people...

3. This Guy's From Another Universe
His manerisms are iritating enough.

I spit coffee when I heard that line...or that somehow an the cells used for stem cell research are no different than legs or kidneys. Hey brain stem, the reason they want to research these cells is because they HAVEN'T differentiated and can be used in so many ways. Sheesh.

Note that he wouldn't take the pledge not to use cures from Stem Cell research.

And, as always, when he can't answer a question with fact, he goes to "I've got studies" (I've got an anus...they have the same value) or tries to show his "pro-life" position...like he's reciting a resume. Sheesh.

Lastly, I'm sick of these goons calling me "Pro-Abortion". I have never advocated that anyone ever have one. I have yet to meet a woman whose gone out of her way to have one. I am PRO CHOICE...it's a choice! Also, this goon cites the "sanctity of life", yet I'll be he voted in favor of Chimpmeisters pillage of Iraq.

5. Ideally, there would be no blood left in the cord when the cord is cut
Edited on Wed May-25-05 07:48 AM by gollygee
that blood is part of the baby's blood supply. Ideally the cord would stop pulsating and all the blood would be back in the baby, where it belongs, before the cord is cut.

7. Plus, it's not the same stuff.
Embryonic stem cells can become any kind of cell. Cord blood can only become blood cells... or so says a story I heard on NPR!

6. Where is their empathy during budget cuts to Medicare, etc?
Why is an embryo more valuable than a poor living child or adult? The embryo is the new fetus.

I think Brownback was nuttier...he said Americans who go to foreign countries to get stem cell therapy should be barred from returning to the US.

:eyes: :nuke: :eyes: :nuke: :eyes: :nuke: :eyes:

Either my head must explode, or finally the freaking news media will start commenting on how LOONEY TUNES these clowns have become!!!

8. This is just an extension of the "I-Hate-Science" Cult
There was a guy on before this one, who had to endure phone calls from wackos who probably did not pass 5th grade science...telling HIM (a real scientist) how ste cell science won;t really cure anything, and how it's a waste of time and money to even experiment..
