Our hottest new export product: Creationism
Edited on Tue May-24-05 10:55 PM by spindoctor
Yes folks, creationism is hot and no longer confined to the more obscure parts of the US.

In good old Britain, Oxford professors are outraged by a college in Gateshead teaching creationism.

<SNIP>
Professor Dawkins said he had proof that Emmanuel College was telling its teachers to question any references in textbooks to the world being billions of years old, because creationism suggested the Universe was no more than a few thousand of years old.

While on the other side of Europe, the Serbian _government_ has issued a decree for schools to stop teaching their ridiculous Darwinism.

<SNIP>
"There were attempts like this in several US states, but they were rejected. It turns out that our fundamentalists are much more successful."
</SNIP>

In progressive Holland, the minster of education wants to hold a parlemental debate on the merits of teaching creationism in schools.

<TRANSLATED SNIP>
...(minister) van der Hoeven himself is a follower of the Intelligent Design movement that has blown over from the US.
...
Ten days ago there was consternation on a college in Groningen because a teacher was instructing this theory (ID) to the students.

Similar stories are reported in Belgium, France and Germany. Various religious Muslem movements in Europe also started denouncing Darwinism in public.

This is good news my friends. Our dumbopoly is broken. They won't be able to make fun of us anymore. :)

4. Which century are we going to stop at? early 18th? 12th?
In a very weird way, the creationism / ID push makes a lot of sense. If we export all the hi tech jobs, we need to lower expectations here.

The economic lowering is almost complete; GM, Ford & a few more down the toilet will speed up the job.

Dismantling of pension systems is well underway. There's a bit of a stumble on dismantling Social Security, but it's not from lack of trying.

Health care is a non-issue; the system is broken and we have no political leadership to fix it.

I'm glad I live in Japan. I shared an article about a creationism museum opening up with a couple of my Japanese friends today, and they were rolling on the floor laughing at the sheer stupidity of it all.

If ignorance were a skill needed for employment, there'd be no unemployment.

/not that the Japanese don't have a talent for rationalizing things away as well.
