I'm shaking my head..
On the way to work today, a Chevy Tahoe went sailing by me. I noticed as the person passed a number of bumper stickers on the rear window. I managed to read two of them as the vehicle sped away.

"I Think, Therefore I Listen to Rush Limbaugh"

"Leave No Child A Dime"

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Someone like this, if they were lying on the side of the road after an accident, would receive no assistance from me. And I fucking hate that I feel like that.

for all the world to see. I am continually amazed people can be so clueless.

And leave a huge fucking note on his chest that said, "If you're alive to read this, thank your God you were found by a liberal Democrat."

9. That's a very good idea,
I just wish I could work up an ounce of compassion for such a person who displays (to my unschooled mind) sociopathic tendencies.

I'm the person who carries supplies to help injured people, which is why it bothers me so much to feel like I do.

19. It is hard.
Something I struggle with every day. I have actually done meditation exercises in which I imagined the president in distress and needing my help. Keeping focused on the inherent worth and dignity of every human being is a challenge.

I recently read something that helped a little bit. I have no idea what I believe in as far as an after-life is concerned, but I read a book by a Buddhist who reminded me that if reincarnation is a reality than our worst enemy today could have been our beloved child many lifetimes ago.

If your uncharitable feelings bother you than I imagine you are a highly compassionate individual. If push came to shove I think you would help out of sheer instinct. Who knows? Your help may be exactly what someone needed to help the scales fall away from their eyes.

6. If he is making the payments,,,,
On the Tahoe, it is all the evidence he needs regarding his correctness of stance.

Ok, he's a fool. Now what?

10. Now what?
I'll take a few deep breaths, and kick myself in the ass for letting an asshole like that change the way I feel about my fellow citizens.

18. I think if that situation happened..
The last thing you'd be checking before giving first aid is someone's bumper stickers.

For myself, there are days when seeing things like that will get any number of reactions, from anger to bemusement to simple sadness that so many people can be lead to such small mindedness. I guess it depends on the day, and what level of GRR I'm on at the moment.

Sometimes I think laughing at them is the best reaction. Taking them seriously makes them feel important, so that's usually the last thing I try and give them.

7. It would be an insult to their conservative beliefs to help them
They are to be left there dying on the side of a road.

Its all about rugged individualism, picking yourself up by your bootstraps, not being dependant on others and the government.

I say, let em be. That is what they want.

The thing that bothers me most about people like that is simply that they have no interest in participating in society.

14. Sorry, Dave

Seeing their wretched attitudes plastered all over their gas-hogging SUV's can ruin anyone's day.

And I don't think any of us would really leave the idiot lying there. We might stop to let him know we're replacing the bumper stickers and praying for his soul
