‘There’s no comprehending it at the moment,’ pastor says
Robbery stuns suspect’s family

Hildegard Herring sat with her pastor in Wichita as she watched her son depicted on the TV news as a suspected bank robber and hostage taker.
Afterward, the 76-year-old mother struggled to grasp what she had seen.
“He does not drink. He does not smoke,” said the Rev. Brad Cooper, pastor of Cross Road Fellowship Bible Church. He said the Herring family — who did not want to speak to reporters — asked him to speak on their behalf. “
He’s a Christian man able to speak things from the Bible. This is just so far out of context from what she knows about her son that she’s in total shock. There’s no comprehending it at the moment.”
The Bennie Herring that family members described for Cooper is a far cry from the man witnesses and police say walked into the bank wearing a sweatshirt proclaiming “SHOW ME THE MONEY” and
ordered 10 employees and one customer to strip down to their underwear.
