THE EVIDENCE IS IN: They LIED. The 2 articles here PROVE IT beyond any...

... reasonable doubt.

These are among the the two most concise synposes of the evidence we have that the Bush administration indeed "fixed the intelligence and facts" to support a pre-determined decision to invade Iraq. I bookmarked the first some time ago, but it dovetails nicely with the one in today's Salon.

They LIED about the threat from Iraq:
"They Knew... Despite the whitewash, we now know that the Bush administration was warned before the war that its Iraq claims were weak"
http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/they_knew_0802

They lied about going to war as a "last resort":
The lies that led to war
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/05/19/lies/print.html
(subscibe or get free Day Pass to read)

THEY KNEW that Iraq posed little if any threat and had little to no connections with Al Qaeda.

THEY WERE DETERMINED to go to war with Iraq from Day One, reasons be damned.

I know to us this is all old news. Most of the information in the first story (which goes back nine months) was known before the war, but simply received little coverage and was trumped by "Bush must know something we don't". The new story (Salon) hammers home all the evidence (right up to the British memo) that makes it painfully obvious that, to the Bush administration, war with Iraq was the FIRST choice.

Again, some may say this is old news... the White House certainly would. But if these two articles were read by everyone in the country, calls for impeachment would reach deafening levels.

3. First, some one has to care
Those who do already know and those who don't don't want to because then they would have to do something. They are just hoping that everything turns out OK despite everything.

9. Unfortunately, things aren't turning out alright.

I don't hope for bad things to happen. I wish none of this had happened at all.

The fact is, it would take things getting worse yet still for enough people to care. But I fear that's what is going to happen.

6. Listening to W, invasion of Iraq and his winning the 2004 election were
moral certainties, for he knew for certain in both instances IMHO fro the conviction of what he said leading up to both.

8. keep banging that drum.
the sacrifise of all those lives requires that pressure is kept up on both dems{we can't pull out now} and repukes.

and yes -- reframing is somethiing that should become a habit -- they did indeed betray the trust of the american people.

10. For some reason
I have a memory of Candidate Bush (before the 2000 election) saying he was going to take out Saddam Hussein.

Bush was determined to go to war before he was President.

13. Old news! I would think the Clinton's involvment in White Water - that
was 10 years before he became president - would be considered "old news". As long as any US soldier is fighting in Iraq and as long as we are spending a billion a week for this fiasco, this is not old news.
