'Up or down vote' ....... it rolls so easily off the tongue. Sounds sooooo reasonable.

Hey guys .... I know I'm just some little asshole who posts to an internet site .... but I got an idea .......

Take your cutesy little 'up or down vote' and go with it ..... just make a winning vote 60. These are, after all, something that can be rolled off the tongue just as easily as 'up or down vote'.

They're 'lifetime appointments'.

There. Was that hard to say?

Ya fuckwads .........

1. It's such BS
Particulary when you consider how many of Clintons Senators these guys put on anonymous hold (and so were denied that up and down vote).

3. There are 55 republican senators, 44 democratic senators and...
....1 independent, that's 100. Now, the repukes do not have 60 votes unless they can get 4 democrats or three democrats and the independent to go over to their side. In fact Cheney keeps saying that if they go to a floor vote and get 50 to 50, he'll break the tie in favor of the nominee. So, are Federal judges voted for life on a simple majority right now?

5. That is one thing I have been wondering. If we give an up or
down vote, do the nominees still not need 60 votes, or is the plan either way to change the rules to require a simple majority?

9. rupugs are good at sticking to their talking points
This is the only phrase that tested well in the focus groups and so the repugs in the senate are running with it. The nuclear option has won out over the "constitutional option" in the publics mind.

10. They even floated the "Byrd Option" for a while
They have no morals, no ethics .... nothing but poll tested rhetoric.
