Sony Pictures Classics is poised to pounce on Adam Curtis' incisive political documentary "The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear" if complex rights issues concerning the film's archive footage can be worked out with U.K.-based sales outfit Pathe International. "The Power of Nightmares" has been setting Cannes abuzz since the BBC docu, in its new 2 1/2-hour theatrical cut, screened in an Out of Competition slot Saturday. "We love this film, and we want to bring it to an American audience," SPC co-president Tom Bernard said in an interview. "I think we have the right strategy to bring the message of this film to the American public.""

Don't know how long it'll take to get a theatre release or TV broadcast in the US, so this is the closest thing until then. It's like the best bits of "The Hunting of the President" and "F 9/11".
