Who wants to replace meetup.com with our own "free" site?
Meetup.com was a great aid to organizing in the last election cycle, but now they charge for access.

Here is my concept; I have Linux servers with lots of bandwidth, storage, and processing power. What if we put up a near-clone of meetup.com but ONLY FOR PROGRESSIVES. Then we will have a tool the Right cannot use. We won't let them on. And they can go pound sand if they don't like it.

Now, I cannot write all the software myself, as I am quite busy keeping the other parts of White Rose going, but I can give volunteer developers access to the system.

Unlike meetup.com, White Rose would merely solicit donations and try to sell books and stuff to keep things paid for and running.

Who else thinks this would work?

Who would like to volunteer to code the system?

Discussion solicited.

1. Sounds like great idea! And I know code like
Bush knows quantum mechanics...

Not even a little bit.

But it sounds like a great idea!

3. Looking For PDA To Become The Progressive Version Of Moral Majority
I'm a Founding Sustainer of Progressive Democrats of America

and have been asked to help form a local chapter. I have neither the time nor the coding skills to do so and refuse to further MeetUp.com's greed. However, if you're offering, please send me a private message and I'll pass the word.

THANK YOU!
