French President Jacques Chirac has made a career appealing to the glories of his country's past. But his people are wondering if he knows how to lead them into the future.Oh brother. So Bush pushing policies to turn America back into what it was in the Gilded Age makes him "modern" and " with it", I suppose? And Chirac's opposition to a blatantly unconscionable war and devotion to mid-20th century notions of civic-mindedness and egalitarianism make him "a dinosaur"?
Fuck you very much Newsweek, and the feeble-minded French-bashing Fox-watchers you're trying to lure with this crap. Hello! Freepers don't read! Sure, a scant few of them skim through a copy of "The Way Things Ought to Be" and "The Fountainhead" and then fancy themselves to be modern-day Bill Buckleys, but in general, they DO NOT READ!
Chirac is younger than Reagan was, by the way...
