1. Why indeed....
Saturday, May 14, 2005; Page A19

On May 1 the Sunday Times of London reported that the governments of Britain and the United States secretly had agreed in 2002 to attack Iraq, before authorization for such an attack was sought in Congress, and that, according to notes taken at a meeting of British officials, "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

This leaked document has been acknowledged by the Blair government and represents a potentially impeachable offense by President Bush and his administration. We have a right to the truth and a right to an independent press that seeks it out. Why did The Post take 12 days to put a story about this document on Page A18?

... perhaps because it IS impeachable?

7. I have maintained, from the beginning,
that the invasion of Iraq was motivated by the Bush family desire to "get even" with Saddam for his attempt to kill "Daddy" Bush.

Though understandable, not excusable.

2. Why? That's a rhetorical question right?

Didn't the NYT bury it too?

4. Well the answer is pretty obvious...
there is only so much room on a newspaper page. With the Michael Jackson trial going on and brides running away and Pickles debuting with her solo comedy routine, etc. etc....how is a poor little newspaper supposed to be able to find room for boring old facts about some war that a bunch of fat old white guys cooked up????

5. News
This whole thing has been hugely disappointing. What's the excuse given by the news media this time? Maybe if the secretary who took the notes at this meeting was a run away bride, then the story might make the front page here in America.

6. It's always the same in Totalitarian Nations like Imperial Amerika
Edited on Sat May-14-05 08:41 AM by tom_paine
where there is no Free Press.

Anyone who didn't see this coming hasn't been paying much attention.

Imperial Media is a disgrace that will echo so much so throughout history that future genetarions of Free Peoples will examine the entrails of Imperial Amerika much as we do the entrails of Nazi Germany, trying to figure out HOW it happened and trying to ensure that IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

Good luck, oh distant descendants who are uinlikely to be Amerikan!

8. Agreed
I agree....if anyone expected this story to have legs, then they are endowed with far more optimism than I.

Journalism is moribund and so are elections in the US. Under those circumstances, it is hard to be hopeful about another damning story about Bush. It simply will not ge reported adequately.

I want to be wrong on this, believe me.

9. Yes, even if * was caught on tape having sex with a young boy...
....the story would get buried.

That seems to be the situation we're in.

...it's an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE.

11. Hey, at least the Post printed it.
How much other media play has it had? I've only seen stuff about it on the Net.

13. what? you thought the post didn't know
about the memo?

i'm fairly certain that plenty of beltway types knew about this.
it's just us little people who were told later.

interesting though that pre-war, millions of folk knew that this war smelled fishy -- and even fished out the facts themselves.

makes the post redundant doesn't it?
