From this vet to those of you with "Support the Troops" magnets...
If you're putting it on the back of a Yukon Denali, Suburban, Expedition, Excursion, or any other gas guzzling piece of shit, you can go fuck yourself. Preferrably with your stupid fucking magnet! This goes double for you freeper swine. Don't you realize these moronic penis extensions on wheels are the CAUSE of the problem? Putting a magnet on it don't get you into heaven any quicker, asshole.

1. Every time I see one of those
I so desperately want to steal it. Almost unfortunately, I'm too good of a person to really steal from anyone, especially cause striking down a symbol to the dictator is nearly punishable by death these days :)

From a parking lot while on vacation in Texas!

Modified it to say, support the troops, not the war.

Mission accomplished. :-)

Can't find it now but you could make your own. They had some standards too, my favorit "I support more troop than you." Kinda like right after 9-11, all those cars with flags on them. Was someone with 4 flags that much more "patriotic" than someone with one?

in how much money they are paying for gas, and that the magnet is going to cause damage to the spot it is stuck to, further reducing the re-sale value.

13. EXACTLY!!!!
I work with this little 22 year old freeper bastard who said he'd never join the military because there's plenty of poor kids who can do the dirty work. I said "Tom DeLay, is that you?" Fucker didn't get the joke.

For your reference:
He and Quayle, DeLay explained to the assembled media in New Orleans, were victims of an unusual phenomenon back in the days of the undeclared Southeast Asian war. So many minority youths had volunteered for the well-paying military positions to escape poverty and the ghetto that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself. Satisfied with the pronouncement, which dumbfounded more than a few of his listeners who had lived the sixties, DeLay marched off to the convention. - 1988 Republican Nat'l Convention.

16. What does "support" mean?
I always ask persons with those absurd stickers what they actually do to "support" the troops. Do they send care packages, letters of support, books, donate to Vets organizations, or actually thank a vet they see on the street?

Nope. They put a stupid sticker on their car. Thanks. What a great help you are...

I'm an Iraq vet who recently left the service. My favorite story to tell about "supporting" the troops was about a week before I left. I was at a gas station getting coffee and a power bar for breakfast. It was about 5am. The guy behind me in line saw me in desert camo and asked if I was leaving for Iraq. He then bought my coffe and said, "I don't support this war, but I want you to know that I'm grateful that you are going over there anyway. This is the least I can do."

No conservative has ever done anything like that for me.

Want to bring shame to these little cockroaches?

Go to your local recruiter and grabs as many business cards and pamphlets they'll let you have and leave it on the windshields of these 'heroes'.

Remember that the age has been raised for first time enlistment, and on top of that a candidate for recruitment is generally allowed a certain level of 'waivers' to use for age, disability(within limits) or criminal background.

I'm absolutely going to do this. I'll print up a short letter to put with all the army pamplets in a little "care package." Something to the effect of, "I noticed your bumper sticker and thought that maybe you'd like to walk the walk you talk. Remember that supporting the troops means more than slapping a sticker on your car; all that does is make you feel better about the war."

39. I think it's called irony
Freepers love nothing better than to bash the French and make jokes about the French for allegedly being cowards and eager to run from a fight. Not that Canadians get much respect either as we are usually written off as nothing but a bunch of pansy-assed pacifist, socialist and borderline commies, up for a little bit of peacekeeping now and again but useless for much else.

However, now that the jingoistic rhetoric and hot air spouted in wingnut corner bars and on message boards isn't cutting the mustard and the dear leader could really use a little extra help in fighting his war for "freedom" (or for the Halliburton, KBR and big oil shareholders, take your pick) the freepers are making themselves scarce at the recruiting stations. Why, you'd almost think they're scared shitless of getting their asses blown away in a fight with the terrists. Surely not. That would mean they were no better than the French and Canadians. LOL.

45. My interaction with a ribbon-purchasing sheeple...
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:41 PM by KzooDem
This happened in late fall/early winter. I have a pair of dark olive-green wool dress pants and was wearing them one day with a similar-colored sweater, with a white dress shirt underneath.

I was in a store at the check out counter and this woman in front of me assumed I was with the Army, based on my monchromatic choice of clothing that day. It should have been obvious that I wasn't wearing any bars or patches that would identify my as Army personnel, but we all know these types aren't the brightest bulbs on the string so no suprise there.

She turned and smiled at me and held up her two yellow "Support The Troops" magnetic car ribbons and said something to the effect of "See, soldier, I'm supporting our men and women fighting for our freedom."

I said something back to her like "If you think buying a couple of cheap magnetic ribbons is all it takes to support the troops, you're dumber than you look." Her jaw sort of dropped and I just stared at her for about 10 uncomfortable seconds until she turned around and ignored me.

49. You convinced me
Although I drive a humble, yet gas-guzzling Ford Taurus wagon, my ribbon will be coming off my car today. I bought it during the election when I also had a John Kerry bumper sticker, and when the common assumption was that one could not support the troops while supporting John Kerry (and I did get comments about both the bumper sticker and the magnet being on the car simultaneously).

But you're right. It IS a meaningless gesture.

88. No, you should keep it
I didn't mean for it to sound that way. It's not the ribbon itself, it's the type of person who buys/displays it while doing NOTHING to "support the troops" you know? I know your heart is in the right place, and you having that magnet doesn't offend me AT ALL. :D

50. The ribbons that get me, Stars & stripes and a cross on them.
Does that signify a crusade? That the USA and bu$h are sacrificing our military men & women, in a war for the way of Jesus?
I just dont get it!

74. Yep, it's got "Shut UP!" written all over it!
And it isn't directed at those who oppose this war for justifiable, moral reasons, but strictly at the chickenhawks who praise the troops from a very safe distance, but find their tasks a bit too fraught with danger for their liking!

77. With all that has happened to this country since "Too Stupid to be
President" has been in office, I find it amazing some people are crazy enough to still have a Bush/Cheney sticker on their auto. Whenever I see one, I try to get a good look at the nut case driving.. Actually, it doesn't piss me off, I start laughing...

66. When they have destroyed all the
programs for the poor, elderly and disabled I wonder if they will put ribbons on their cars saying "support the needy" while they are crossing over to the other side of the street? Hypocrites

...and tell them that GOD, or JEEEEEEEEEEESUS, will provide.

72. I've been writing on the dust on SUV's
"Owner has small penis."

I also point and laugh when I'm walking and see a Hummer.
The joke I've been telling lately is " He had to buy a Hummer, cause nobody would give him one."

support the troops magnet should replace someone in Iraq.
If they support it, then they should fight it.

I completely agree. It pisses me off to see these damned things from ppl who aren't vets or married to or a parent of a service member. You support the troops? Freaking enlist! My husband has been gone 2.5 of the last 4 years and he's in the freaking NG! I have no use for false patriotism. /rant
