11. Liked this quote on the site
Jim Wallis in an exchange with Jerry Falwell on Hannity & colmes on Feb 11

Wallis: The good news is the monologue of the religious right is over, and a dialogue has finally begun.
Falwell: I think . . .
Wallis: Jerry--you know--Jerry--I didn't interrupt you, Jerry. Millions and millions of Christians, including evangelicals like me, want the nation to know that you don't speak for us. That your Jesus is pro-rich, pro-war, and only pro-American, and your monologue is over.

13. Wonderful billboard!
A quote from grassrootdems.org's homepage...

Ike predicts future for GOP

David Sirota digs up the quote of the year.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
- President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 11/8/54

That would show the sheeple how far the neo-cons have taken them away from the old conservative principals.

37. Sounds good to me, MP!! I believe, in one way or another,
the rethugs will come down. The repug neocon machine simply can't sustain itself much longer. They've been sowing the seeds to their downfall from Day One. I envision a bunch of plates stacked to the ceiling and the higher the pile, of course, the less stable.

thank you, larissa. :)

I'm glad I caught it-- because it brightened up my day and, I hope, your day, too!!

Plus I discovered the cool new Dem website (grassrootdems.org) with lots of good stuff on it.

Here's what they say about the Billboard Project:

The first billboards will go up May 2005, in downtown Sioux Falls and near the Convention Center. Additional boards will launch each month thru out the summer. This is a good start! This is a cost effective start! In a red state, to effectively deliver this message, it’s critical to repeat, “Democrats make America stronger” over a long period of time, and in a variety of ways. And in South Dakota we can deliver and fine-tune that message for a fraction of what it would cost in other states.

With your help, this is only the beginning.

21. sigh. Too bad they put in a comma splice.
That's a grammatical error. You have to connect the two parts of the sentence with a semi-colon, not a comma.

Simple but powerful message-- few words-- right on target.

38. Grammar Don't Count!
Billboards, posters, buttons, stickers, etc., are graphic media, not narrative. As such, they claim exemption as artistic license. Think of how much advertising copy is not strictly grammatical.

Standardization of language is a recent innovation in human history. Should we make a religion of it? BTW, I'm not totally liberal on this. For instance, I'll do what I can to stamp out "alot."

44. No excuse for that one.
We were taught to ask, would you say, "He gave the ticket to I?"

Hard to miss that one if you know what you're doing. Modern advertising speak favors sentence fragments. Like this one.

42. I noticed that, too.
I think it would be better both grammatically and poetically with a period instead of a comma, and with each sentence on a separate line.

Other than that, I think it's great.

23. These are WONDERFUL! Please see this other thread - we need to do
more than just fight the neocon horrors, we must alter a positive alternative of hope. Otherwise, there is only despair.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1777043
Thread title: “This Jen Sorenson CARTOON challenges us to do MORE than fight off GOP”

We must be MORE than merely "The Party of NO" as the Repubs are trying to paint us:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1776818
Thread title: GOP's new Framing: Democrats = Party of "No"

If we are not a real, fleshed-out alternative, people will not turn to progressivism, they will despair.

Recommended (if it isn't too late).

we are the "party of NO":

Thread title: GOP's new Framing: Democrats = Party of "No"

I think it would also be good in the Framing Forum - if you don't want to do this, may I? This idea needs to be saved and spread IMO.

36. I think of us as the Party of No Way in Hell.
As in, "No way in hell are we going to let you destroy Social Security. No way in hell are we going to let you destroy this great nation with your crap." Stuff like that.

We can take that and change it for the better.

I can think of a thousand ways to fight back by getting the word out.

I can't help thinking that some of the Dems are sitting on their hands.

Maybe we should all be in politics-- or be political advisers.

Frankly, I believe that the politicians could learn a lot from us.

..I'd want one like that! :) Super stringent sign laws too :o .. You can only have signs directly in front of your own business. No signs allowed on the sides of the roads or highways except for road directional signs.

That South Dakota website is great tho! I'm going to forward that picture to Big Eddie Schultz.. He'll love it ~~ :bounce:
