Message for all
Love is but the song we sing,
And fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Know the dove is on the wing
And you need not know why.

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now.

Some will come and some will go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moments sunlight
Fading in the grass.

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now.

If you hear the song I sing,
You must understand
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command.

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
Right now
Right now!

1. Thank you
for posting the lyrics. I'd never been able to figure out the second line of the first verse, and it is very very meaningful. Focus on peace, people-leave the fear to the neocons.

Smile on your brother.

This is my national anthem.

3. A good song.
In the 1960s, the hippies had a vision that incorporated the power of music. Every tribal group that has found meaning in life has sang about it. And a-one, and a-two .....

9. Me too.
It takes me back and makes me cry for those times and now the bad times are back. Beautiful song. I agree, we must change it again. If you were there the first time you are my age or older and I just figure, what else were we going to do in our retirement?

8. Gotta' keep those reminders close these days.
Since there is no guarantee on the next breath we draw, "right now" is really all we have to shine our own lights on others and fight for humanity's potential.

Thank you for the reminder!

11. I remember that song from the time I was about seven years old
and when I was seven that song broke my heart. I knew at seven that each one of us has this unfulfillable longing for peace, and I knew at seven that if it was fulfillable, the song wouldn't make us sad.

Hard to listen to, even now in my forties.

17. Jesse Colin Young is still an awesome Peacemonger
Make sure to visit www.jessecolinyoung.com and download the mp3 of his American Dreams Suite:

"American Dream Suite

Aloha my friends:
Last night before bed my son told me his dream of world peace. It slipped out of him easily as if it was so obvious and completely simple. All the soldiers all over the world would stop fighting and go home to their families and then the Kings and Queens and Presidents of all the countries would gather together and make a peace treaty that would last forever. At one time my generation carried this dream and thought we could make it real. Instead, it seems to be getting farther and farther away. How sad this is..."

I still love this guy & his heart & his music & his message...
