What is the soldier rotation like in Iraq?
I've been putting together pieces of information regarding Iraq and some things deserve questioning. For example, someone posted the fatality ratios by race and I believe the number of hispanics who have died in Iraq is as high as 33%. I thought this number was odd since hispanics only represent something like 17% of the personnel serving on the frontlines.

Then in another, possibly unrelated story, a soldier complained about the involuntary extended service because he stated that they've been there from the beginning, while some soldiers are coming in to serve for only three months, just to leave again.

I was wondering, who are these soldiers who are going in for only three months? And why aren't the rotations distributed more fairly? Does any one have any information on the rotations?

1. here's what I think is happening
On the deployment issue....

The units being brought in for only a few months will QUICKLY learn they are not going home in three months. Just like the soldiers who are complaining about being extended found out they had to stay too.

2. I posted this a couple days ago because I just don't get it
My cousin's husband is career army. He was there for only three months. It seems to be the Guard and Reserve that are getting stuck.

There has been speculation that units from red states are going home sooner. Wouldn't surprise.

3. About your speculation ...
That's what I was wondering. Are service people from the red states getting short stays to keep the fatalities down in key areas? Otherwise, why the high fatality rates for hispanics? Something isn't adding up.
