Did Andy have surgery today?
If so, does anybody know how he is doing?

1. No. It is tomorrow....
7:30 AM EDT.

He is prepping for it tonight. Crap called "go lightly". He reports that it isn't.

when I saw him Saturday! I warned him! :scared:

He was thinking he could do the prep and fly in the plane too!

4. Yeah..he mentioned that to me last evening.....
No way, Jose!

I mentioned stuff about the difficulty of waiting in lines for airplane bathrooms, not to mention the fact you are not allowed to get up at certain times.

From what my mother has told me, you pretty much need to stay about 2 feet from the toilet during this kind of thing....

9. Wonderful......
I am 55 and the doc wants me to have the usual colonoscopy.... LOL, my SO is a couple of years older, is a healthcare policy researcher and so far has avoided this. He must be better that the avoidance crap than I am.....

So sometime in July (when my grade school principal sister is off school and has leisure to take me and tend to our 93-year-old mother to whom I am caregiver...when not at work) I will discover the wonderfulness of this .... whatever you want to call it.

I am not looking forward to this.

14. You know, you don't have to drink all that crap anymore for a
colonoscopy. Both my mother and I just took some pills...it really wasn't that bad at all...esp. since we didn't have to gag on the quarts of foul-flavored stuff.

17. Yep.
They gave me the Barium because I hadn't started it until the day before the surgery.

Man, I did not think that much liquid and other material could come out of me so fast.

It was explosive.

I had the little ol' procedure, and I don't think that I went for days after that.

Yikes!

16. Yes, he is in Baltimore...
Got back last evening from Columbus.

He and termite are staying in a Johns Hopkins hotel for patients and their families.

He has to check in tomorrow morning at 6 AM EDT. This is gonna be one long night for him.

But he will sleep a lot for a while after tomorrow....good drugs.

18. Wow, I will be sleeping out here on the west coast when ..
he checks in.

Want to hear a funny story?

When I went in for a little procedure, I started to wake up and complain about cramping, half-asleep. They gave me a bunch of Demerol, I went to sleep for several hours, and no one told my husband I was O.K. Ding-dongs! He was not pleased.

Then I got in the car to go home, and threw up into a bag (lucky we had one).

I think he had a good time this weekend with friends who love and support him as ONE BIG FAMILY!:grouphug:

I think it had an extremely positive impact on his psyche.

Tomorrow....he will no doubt go into ICU for observation.

21. I am certain he will be in ICU....
At least he should be.

Both my late father and my mother have been in IC. My father survived it twice and my mother once. It is a frightening environment, but they do amazing things in there.

to keep my skills up and the pay is fine too. I work in another public sector nursing job as my full time employment. That said....too much knowledge about these things SUCK! Especially when it is happening to someone you care about.

24. Hey ... go Liberalnurse! My mom was a surgical nurse for years.
What I got out of that is true paranoia about even seeing a doctor.

I have to make myself see one this week for my annual ladies' exam.

Don't make your kids paranoid! Just kidding.
