BOSTON -- The state Democratic Party is poised to add an endorsement of same-sex marriage to its platform next week.

Party chairman Phil Johnston said the party's 3,000 delegates will consider the platform change on May 14 when they meet in Lowell, Mass., and three days before the first anniversary of legalized gay marriage in Massachusetts.

He said he does not anticipate any problems with adopting the endorsement.

The move comes despite a national backlash against gay marriage. Voters in 11 states approved same-sex marriage bans last fall.

I mean, who'd of thunk it. Equal marriage has been on the books for a whole year and the world hasn't ended. OHMYGODTHEHUMANITY! *eg*

Here's hoping other states will have the nerve to follow the lead - I think even Mitt Romney has to agree that, after a year, the whole fight against gay marriage was pointless and life goes on like always.
