Pat Robertson: Judges worse than Al Qaeda
Big media should stop taking this lunatic seriously and keep him OFF the air....

Robertson: Judges worse than Al Qaeda

BY DEREK ROSE
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Federal judges are a more serious threat to America than Al Qaeda and the Sept. 11 terrorists, the Rev. Pat Robertson claimed yesterday.

"Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that's held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings," Robertson said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

"I think we have controlled Al Qaeda," the 700 Club host said, but warned of "erosion at home" and said judges were creating a "tyranny of oligarchy."

Confronted by Stephanopoulos on his claims that an out-of-control liberal judiciary is the worst threat America has faced in 400 years - worse than Nazi Germany, Japan and the Civil War - Robertson didn't back down.

"Yes, I really believe that," he said. "I think they are destroying the fabric that holds our nation together."

3. Yeah, but we don't do shit like that . . .
And it would be bad politics to do so. It'd only offend those who agree with us, without winning over the no-opposable-thumb crowd.

Like lying about WMDs and invading a nation not threatening us is a moral and Christian act?

Did George even ask him about this diamond dealings in Africa?

28. A culture of life
Don't you understand Pat Robertson is a supporter of life. And in order to support life you have to make sure that capital punishment remains in place and we can execute more minors. We must have a strong military that can build more bombs to preemptively kill children before they become terrorists, and we need to put more mercury in the water. Don't you see why Bush's judicial nominees are so important? :sarcasm:

12. From what I understand
Sorry, I do not have a link...

But, 10 of the 13 federal judiciaries have a majority of Republican appointees, I think two are even and 1 has a majority of Democratic appointees. Don't hold me to that, though.

In the last 37 years, we've only had 12 years of Democratic presidents, and the Republicans refused to give many of Clinton's nominees an up-or-down vote.

Of the 13 federal judicial districts in the country, ten districts are majority Republican -- meaning a Republican president appointed most of the judges.

37. Bad mouthing the moderate Republicans plays into Rove's
hand. It is important for the moderates be divided. That's how the radical right got power. We need the moderate Republicans. We need to stop calling them names (even if they deserve it) and start trying to reason with them. It is our only hope. We need to find a "every-man" to run for President. Al Gore and Hilary are tooo intellectual. They would never be elected. How about Colin Powell?

So, trying to make our already conservative federal judiciary even more conservative is more important than...
The American Revolution?
The War of 1812?
Slavery & the Civil War?
World War 1?
The Great Depression?
Pearl Harbor?
World War 2?
The Cold War?
Vietnam?
Watergate?
Iran-Contra?
9/11?

Not to mention the good things...

11. NAO: "Pat Robertson worse than Al Qaeda"
Fundamentalist Radical Clerics such as Falwell, Dobson, and Robertson are not merely medieval throwbacks or misguided religious hacks. They are part of a well organized subversionary movement known as "Dominionism". Dominionism constitutes a serious threat to American Democracy. These Radical Clerics have developed and are executing a detailed plan to gradually replace the free, secular democratic society of the United States with a Theocracy.

Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but
considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and then
shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

–Matthew: 7:1-5

FYI, Pat, that's a quote from an old book. You may have heard of it-- it's called "The Holy Bible". You should read it some time.

20. "the fabric that holds our nation together."
Robertson sees a "fabric" of white synthetic polyester (like the kind his ancestors wore in their hooded robes). The rest of us see a tapestry of different threads and colors like the real america. Ya know Pat, the "fabric" of hatred and bigotry and fascism you think is "holding the nation together" is good for not much more than toilet paper.

21. Reply
I think the only reason Pat "Iaintgotnobrains" Robinson is still on TV, other than his own station, is for comedic effect.

Jerry Falwell realized years ago that he had become ineffective by being such a far right wing-ding. Robertson is a kook, clearly.

I think GS had him on there for the laugh factor. I'm surprised he didn't keep a straight face in light of the irony.

27. Thanks precisely what he wants to do.
In his pretty little theocracy, all the people follow God and God's will, so we'll just let God appoint all of our judges and other leaders. Of course, we'll need godly men like Pat to be the mouthpiece of God, and to make sure no heretics with contrary opinions are allowed to speak against God.

I really do believe in freedom of speech, and Pat has every right to be as big an idiot as he wants to be. But the rest of us have every right to tell him: SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!!

31. Be VEEEEEERRRY Careful....
... that we don't take the bait that these chuckleheads are throwing out there for us.

Think about it - Rove et al have been using political judo against the left (and the center) for long enough now. We should know the dangers of jumping at these openings when they give 'em to us.

The judo being used here is that Robertson is speaking the truth. Activist judges CAN do more harm to America than a handful of militant Islamic terrorists. Imagine America under a Supreme Court composed entirely of Antonin Scalia clones, then ask yourself if Osama could do anything more damaging to America than that Court.

If we jump too hard on his insane rhetoric, if we whip ourselves into a frenzy of outrage that he could make such a psychotic comparison, then we will be unable to effectively protest when the Commander in Chimp nominates Roy "Ten Commandments" Moore of Alabama to replace Rehnquist.

"Oh, I thought you LIEberals said that judges couldn't hurt America?"

I'm just sayin'.

33. Delusion
de·lu·sion (dĭ-lû'zhən)
n.

The act or process of deluding.
The state of being deluded.
A false belief or opinion: labored under the delusion that success was at hand.
Psychiatry. A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness: delusions of persecution.

delusion, false belief based upon a misinterpretation of reality. It is not, like a hallucination, a false sensory perception, or like an illusion, a distorted perception. Delusions vary in intensity, and are not uncommon among substance abusers, particularly those who use amphetamines, cocaine, and hallucinogens. They also occur frequently among individuals who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, or schizophrenia, and during the manic stage of bipolar disorder (see depression). Some common delusions include persecutory delusions, in which the individual falsely believes that others are plotting against him; delusions of thought broadcasting, where the individual believes his thoughts can be transmitted to others; delusions of thought insertion, in which the individual believes that thoughts are being implanted in his mind; and delusions of grandeur, in which the individual imagines himself an unappreciated person of great importance.

45. I got to fulfill a lifelong fantasy today....
Pat Robertson's fundie college Regent University has a film festival every year, and they are showing it at the Naro Theater in Norfolk (yeah, I live and work in CBN/Robertson territory). I was on my dinner break, coming back from Subway, when this black Lincoln stopped in front of the theater and two goons stop traffic in front of me to let the honorable Dr. Pat Robertson out to go inside. My instinct was to give him the finger...and instinct prevailed.

Damned if he didn't see it though :-(

Admit it Pat, we need Democrats in charge to get this country back on track. Republicans can't rule. The country suffers when they are in power...war/debt/unemployment.

OR does Pat want to be judge and jury in the name of God?
