Herbert's column today may be the start of something
Our kid soldiers are turning into barbarians, and someone's talking about it. Here's hoping the MSM will start calling for withdrawal before it gets any worse.

3. as long as the MSM
ignores the real stories and continues to cover runaway brides, Michael Jackson, and anything else other than the war and the economy, these stories will not prick the American conscience. Let the games continue while the empire destroys itself.

8. Let the games continue
yup. Time for Smirky to throw out another baseball, or tell the Indy 500 drivers to start their engines, or have an all-GOP "summit" on his pig farm, or pose with some little black kids. The MSM will be all over that, while they ignore this one.

5. We are going to pay a very steep price for this kind of thing:
a snip:
The officer's comment was a harbinger of the gratuitous violence that, according to Mr. Delgado, is routinely inflicted by American soldiers on ordinary Iraqis. He said: "Guys in my unit, particularly the younger guys, would drive by in their Humvee and shatter bottles over the heads of Iraqi civilians passing by. They'd keep a bunch of empty Coke bottles in the Humvee to break over people's heads."

He said he had confronted guys who were his friends about this practice. "I said to them: 'What the hell are you doing? Like, what does this accomplish?' And they responded just completely openly. They said: 'Look, I hate being in Iraq. I hate being stuck here. And I hate being surrounded by hajis

9. and Limpballs,
in whose drug-addled mind torture = a frat prank. I can sleep a little knowing that I did my best to prevent this, in 2000 AND 2004. But it still sucks to be associated with * and all of his sycophants.

10. This could have been predicted from the start
Many of us who opposed this immoral war of choice saw this as one of the consequences of starting a war. Well here we are and we all will have to reap what was sown. Unfortunately, this will blow back on all of us and it isn't pretty. No matter what the fundies want to think, God is not on the side of the US in this war. God sides with the poor and the powerless and what goes around will come around in due time. Those who look for the rapture are in for a big ugly surprise.

11. Was predicted
by people like Wes Clark, all the way to Molly Ivins. But Smirk is so "likable" that his moronishness was overlooked.

As for blowback, it's already happening. Every world leader from Putin down to the tinhorn dictators is arming his country as much as possible. Meanwhile, countries that could do us serious harm arm forming alliances, and China is just waiting for the economy to collapse so they can buy whatever pieces of the US they want.
