JERUSALEM � Unidentified arsonists set fire to Jerusalem's only "gay" bar this week ahead of plans, blasted by top religious figures, to bring a world homosexual event here this August that has been blasted by top religious figures.

Shushan, a homosexual bar near Jerusalem's bustling Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall, suffered significant fire damage earlier this week when a man entered the doorway of the club and threw a burning rag inside. Flames spread quickly but patrons escaped without injury.

I agree. It's inappropriate to torch the place with people inside. They should have arrested the queers first, and then torched the place after it was emptied.

One burning rag caused all that damage? Where were all the fire extinguishers in the place, why were the rugs and interior fixtures that flammable. Dont they serve beer there? The poofs should have thrown a couple of beers on the rag and put it out, I guess they were busy pulling up their pants , it isnt easy to run with your pants around your knees. Must have been a large rag.

I guess some folks don't feel that they have to put up with every queer and oddball person/issue that comes around.

Glad to see that someone in Jerusalem ended their own bar before it became one of many as it surely would have.

Of course not: they should then be arraigned and tried properly. Israel has due process too, you know. The penalty would then depend on the severity of the crime. For example, any found guilty of endangering the lives of others with HIV should receive the due penalty of attempted murder.
