Unbelievable propaganda piece in support of Bolton.
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 01:36 PM by Skwmom
I received this in an email from a friend. While it is an opinion piece it is so DISHONEST and misleading that it should have been printed on a propaganda page rather than an opinion page.

Stand firm on Bolton

"JOHN BOLTON'S nomination as ambassador to the United Nations is in dire straits, stalled in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee facing hostile Democrats and some wavering Republicans. But the impasse is not the result of an honest debate."

"Opponents have erected a facade of faux arguments aimed at discrediting Mr. Bolton personally."

"Much ado has been made about Mr. Bolton's challenging intelligence professionals, implying that he attempted to cherry-pick - or worse, bend and shape - information to fit his preconceived notions."

"Perhaps Mr. Bolton was simply doing what the Silberman-Robb Commission investigation into the 9/11 intelligence failures recommended in its final report: "The intelligence community needs to be pushed. It will not do its best unless it is pressed by policy-makers - sometimes to the point of discomfort. ... This is not 'politicization'; it is a necessary part of the intelligence process."

"Mr. Bolton's nomination should be debated on matters of substance, not innuendo that he's "mean." Confirming him would demonstrate that the U.S. is serious about reform at the U.N. - and that bureaucracies will be held accountable.
